Finally got out to purchase a wedge today.

Went to AG and got a Nike VR Forged 56* SW for £49!!!

That is a supreme bargain, cheapest elsewhere is £69.

Preferred the feel of it to the SV, just waiting for them to see if they can get 52 & 60 degree wedges in from group stock.

I'm not a big fan of Nike kit to be honest i don't believe they produce much better stuff than the average manufacturers but because they have the "swoosh" their kit is overhyped.

Just like TM imo.

Well, you could just be wrong?

Nike do make some nice stuff.

Unlike TM.

Just my opinion sir, Horses for courses and all that ;)

I had a deal today. I really wanted to get two TM fairway woods as I've lost all confidence in the Clevelands and ideally wanted the 08 burners to go with the woods so they matched in terms of shaft and performance etc.

They were marked at 129 each which was the same as the new Superfast. Not paying that for two year old models. I came home and did some serious surfing and found a 3 wood for £72 so printed the page out and went back. After much argument and asking to speak to the manager he agreed to do them for £80. I wasn't happy. I noticed that the 5 wood had a chip on the top of the face and as it was the only regular in stock (and TM aren't doing them anymore) I haggled the 5 wood down to £55. Happy days and for once AG came good. Can't wait to christen them tomorrow morning

I have a Cleveland Hi Bore XLS but was pleasantly surprised by its performance which is why its never left the bag

Posted Thursday with regard a member looking for recommendations for a good 3 wood.

I feel a song coming on 'there may be trouble ahead' ;)

You can tell the winter nights are rolling in and some members have nothing better to do and trawl through my previous posts in order to find something else to have a go at me with. Get a grip guys!

Anyway that aside, you'd have lost confidence if you had put 5 consecutive 3 woods 45 degrees right across the entire width of the range and into a cemetary as I did the other night. The bloke next to me must have thought I was trying to do it on purpose. I couldn't even find the netting and sailed over it with confidence. I then managed to clear the netting left with seveal big hooks with the 5 wood so a total diseprsion of around 180 yards. When they are good they go for miles and I feel happy but when they are off there is no in between. That and I had a chance of a bargain and they were TM!

And to conclude, the first 5 wood in anger at our 4th was a peach. The first three wood was a bit hooky but it redeemed itself and 12. Both were then a bit iffy towards the end but after 4 and a half sodding hours for a friendly round I'd lost the will and so wasn't exactly concentrating or following any pre-shot routine. I was just happy it was out turn to hit the bloody thing again

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Seriously, I'd hardly call that "trawling" Martin.
Your first comment was made last Thursday.
The second was made 24 hours later, on Friday.
I just found it funny that the wood you recommendeded to somebody as being easy to hit was ditched the very next day because you had lost confidence with it.

I'm sorry if you feel I'm picking on you.
I'm not. Honestly. But you do leave yourself wide open sometimes.

Maybe not on this occasion but you AND others seem to regularly audit what I've written. It seems so funny to me that I appear to be the only one on here who anyone bothers to go back and double check what they've written previously on so many subject so perhaps I should be flattered. Strangely enough opinions do change and so what I wrote historically won't always be the view I have now. Probably to convenient for many but hey-ho

Whatever. As I said I find it funny that a man can't change his views and that I alone have my posts constantly checked for "discrepancies". Still if you all really have nothing more exciting on here to worry about cest la vie

Homer, for what it's worth I had the Cleveland Hi-Bore XLS 3 wood and 5 wood in the bag early in the season. I really didn't get on with them at all, got rid and my fairway woods game was ok again (before I got injured) with more normal looking fairways/hybrids.
I like Cleveland as a brand but those scooped out woods designs don't do it for me anymore.
