They were playing a tournament there decades before John Jacobs inspired the creation of the European Tour. I remember backing Eduardo Romero at 50/1, must be thirty years ago. One of my favourite events.

Is that when he won by 15 or more shots ?

Time for my bucket list course

Just looks stunning

Been there twice to watch, the 2nd time in 2017 was lucky enough to play the course the day after the tournement. It was just so sureal, I was off the same tees that the pros had just played, all the hoardings where still in place, The greens were the slickest I've ever played, had 3 3-putts and shot 9 over. It's a memory I will never forget, the views of the alps were breathtaking. The biggest regret was not getting some really good photos it was an overcast day

The boy's 2 passions are golf and skiing - I've told him to try and find a job as an assistant pro at golf course in the mountains when he's older... He'd be in his absolute element.

I'm quite a keen skier and have skied a fair bit in that general area though never in Crans-Montana itself, which has a reputation for great skiing when the snow is good but it can deteriorate quickly as it's south facing.

Learnt to ski at Crans in my 40's and have also done 2 golf holidays there .
My brother has gone there for the last 35 years skiing and golfing

Can’t wait for Crans has always been top of my bucket list of courses to play. From watching the ET as a kid growing up the scenery and seeing players like Faldo, Monty, Ollie, Seve and Langer playing there it just feels like the perfect mix of golf meets nature for me.

This seems crazy. Assume it’s just this year it’s happening, unusually low cloud maybe? You can’t have a tournament in these conditions if it’s a common, known problem, surely?

Edit - Link hasn’t worked properly. Basically the reason for delays is low cloud, when the hole is clear they play, when it’s covered in cloud they wait. There are holes in play and at the same time there are holes not in play. Madness.

As I said in my post, is this an unusual occurrence with the cloud so low, or is it like this all the time, with it being in the mountains?

If it’s a freak occurrence then of course they have to work around it, but if it’s always like this then why on earth do they hold a tournament there.

Well you sometimes get cloud in the mountains , just like you sometimes get wind on links courses that causes balls to move and stops play or rain which floods greens on parkland courses. Or thunder storms in the summer with lightning threats. Golf's an out door sport and subject to the vagaries of the weather.

The entire European Ryder Cup team is playing, as well as Michael Kim, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Rodgers, Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka and Billy Horschel from the US and the likes of Joaquin Niemann playing too.

The entire European Ryder Cup team is playing, as well as Michael Kim, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Rodgers, Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka and Billy Horschel from the US and the likes of Joaquin Niemann playing too.

Sounds really good... Be interesting to see how the ryder cup players do... Also how the LIV players fair.

It is a shame to see that it’s needed the PGAT to ban them and the current situation for them to come and support ( or play ) in some of the big historic ET events

Cheap shot. Reed has regularly played over here, in the same way Horschel does.

Plenty of PGA golfers never bother to come across. Very much up to each individual.
