Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

It’s unfair to compare LIV Golf’s current viewership to that of the PGA Tour today. A more reasonable comparison would be how many people were watching the PGA Tour in its third full year of existence.
Not really. You cannot compare viewing figures from 60 years ago when the landscape was very different.

Given the number of platforms LiV is shown on that are free to watch, you would expect viewing figures to be reasonably high if there was any real appetite for the product. You would also expect broadcasters to be paying for the rights.

After more than 50 years of history and heritage, the PGA Tour has had time to build a loyal fan base and establish itself as a cornerstone of professional golf. Naturally, it attracts more viewers.

It’s completely normal and expected that a new tour like LIV Golf wouldn’t have the same following yet — that’s just the reality of building something from the ground up.
Was the PGAT Tour on Sky TV, terrestrial or streamed onto YouTube in 1933?

Tommy Fleetwood.
Fan of him as a golfer and a person.
'Moliwood' will never be forgotten.
Generally rooting for him.

He's ranked 9th. There's plenty of different ways to determine 'best', is he 9th best on PGAT? Tricky one.

He's made the news for most PGAT earnings without a PGAT win.
With the increased purses that probably isn't that surprising and a nod to consistency.

I suspect if he came through the US ranks, he would naturally have played many more tier 3 & 4 PGAT events and would most likely have won.

Wonder if his game isn't that suited for winning on PGAT, not really a bomb & gauge player, and maybe doesn't have exceptional putting weeks.
He's a bit of an anomaly I think. I don't he's a great putter, which doesn't help. He also seems to be too nice, doesn't have that killer instinct that players need to get tournaments over the line. He is where he is due to sheer talent with ball-striking, but he doesn't have the ruthless edge that so many other competitors have. He never seems to play well on a Saturday - when the pressure is starting to ramp up. If he does well he seems to play great the first two days, and then maybe coast through the weekend with level par or close to it. Or maybe a Rory-style great Sunday score when out of contention.

Basically if he could putt as well as he does most other things he’d have won multiple times and probably a major or two.

But yes, he gets hammered with those stats but criticising a player for being very consistent and making a lot of money (when earning a decent living is very much the aim of any professional golfer!) is a slightly strange one. You’re quite correct that he doesn’t bother with the soft weeks and is off to Europe for their premier events rather than play against 2nd raters in the autumn to pick up a (relatively) easy win.
