Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

From American Express today

'Pace of play is far from a new complaint, and bringing up the subject tends to elicit eye rolls from many corners of the game. In that same breath, the final group, which teed off at 1:50 p.m. ET, took roughly four hours to play 12 holes.'

How would you like to be playing behind that.....

They were waiting 10 mins on some tees in Dubai, can't say it made any difference to watching on the Tele

Tuned into the PGAT last night - the leaders / final group were on the green of a par 5, commentary suggested they'd be on that hole for at over 40 minutes..... decided not to watch anymore. Appreciate not all holes were going to take 40 minutes, but the pacing just does not make me want to watch. Good wins by Hatton & Straka.

I think I was playing behind them last year, do you know if they ever play in the Glasgow area?

The final group were waiting for groups in front repeatedly. Whatever the problem was it wasn’t them.
I enjoyed watching Straka play. Impressive way to close out a lead - bogey free until the 16th.

Thought they were VERY generous to Hoffman sticking two in the water on the par 3. Looking at the angles he definitely should have been hitting 5 off the tee….

I'm in the camp that Hatton could improve his behaviour. Am not excusing, but when I have watched pro golf in person, you do see/hear a load of stuff. Also I feel over the years the editing/producing has shifted - rather that cut away, they'll show hoping for a story. Plus the microphones everywhere now.
But back to golf -
After he played on the PGAT for the last time he was owgr ranked at 15 and right now he's at 8.
Fair play to that (although expect it to fall in coming months).

I watched it again after your comment, listening to their discussion and actions, I'm pretty sure that they got it right.

I think he got it right; asked the question and stayed on the tee until they waved him up. No problem with his actions at all. Unless he hits shots that curve more than 90 degrees like a boomerang though, can’t see how that ball ever crossed the boundary. Seems to defy the laws of geometry vs the way the hole curves out into the lake as you go further back (the “bulge” was only a reduction in the rate of this curvature). I’m only looking at it on the TV though with all the foreshortening etc and no camera directly on the line, so maybe I’m wrong.

I was not saying Strata was the problem, the problem is the PGA Tour Officials who allow this to happen.....one of the reasons why the ratings are down I'm sure, it is in my house.
