The only joke is that the DPWT doesn't have any tournaments (at all; anywhere) during the middle of summer, so it's up to the Asian Tour and LIV to fill the void.

What’s the “middle of the summer”

Summer runs from 20th June 2024 to 22nd September, so the middle of that would be roughly 22nd July to 14th August.

DPWT have, at the request of the players, built 2 - 3 week gaps in the schedule.
They did the same last year.....
The players wanted a bit more down time, especially with all the travelling.
So...not a joke..more Player Welfare..

Because the Open finishes on the 21st
Then a week gap - no sponser to host an event
Then the Olympics Golf tournament is on in France
Then two weeks gap - again no sponsers to host events
Then DP events
So where is the money coming from to host events in the missing weeks ?
Can’t see any Asian Tour events from 14th July until 5th September
But also thought the gaps were being built in a player request

The Sponsership finished , they didn’t renew , a new sponsor came in and took over

I'm hearing on here from some, not all that this AK guy wasn't all that.
But I've found a lot of his peers talking about him and they all say before injuries got a hold of him he really was something.
Looking forward to seeing what he has got tomorrow after not competing for 12 frickin years.

That was one of the matches that gave him a very good reputation
That was in 2008 after that he only won one more event until he stopped. His potential was high , he had some good results in majors but never got over the line
In his pomp he still didn’t win a major , a wgc or even one of the big tour events
The vast majority of pro’s even some top pro’s, like Colin Montgomerie, never win a major. I was well impressed with Kim when he was at his best, and disappointed he got injured.

Yeah after 2008 he looked like he would be a star , his swing was very nice and smooth bit like Louis O , he had some great rounds in the majors but couldn’t do it for 4 rounds - his potential was high but didn’t seem to get over the line in the big one
Kim wouldn't be the first player to have shown absolute potential and threaten to be a world beater and not fulfil their potential. My thought is his ship has sailed in terms of any aspirations to be a top, top player and certainly a major winner (subject to even playing).

So you are criticising the tour for not arranging events that clash with the Open and the Olympics.
It’s ok, there’s probably a captain’s away day going on somewhere in this period which is just as serious.

Remember though I only started playing golf in 2021.Down on Tiger the other week yet hyping up Kim
The only tiger I have seen is post car crash. Of course when I go on you tube I can see what an amazing player he was but I don't identify with it because the guy I see now is a shadow of that player.
I hadn't even heard of Kim before this Liv comeback thing so had to go and find stuff about him and when I did I found multiple videos of Pros saying he was one of the best young talents before injuries struck him down and then just disappeared.
Will he also be a shadow of his former self?
Guess we will know by the end of the season.
