It’s highly likely you won’t.I like DJ. His form may not be great but it's good to have another household name to watch.

Yeah, showed some signs of life in Mexico (T7), but regressed in Korea......
And DJ record in majors since he went to LIV is poor and his record on LIV over the last 18 months doesn’t stand out

Hopefully the same will apply to the LIV thread.Folks.
There have been one or two reports to mods regarding some spill over to here from the LIV thread, most specifically that the sort of LIV related arguments which we have had to referee in the past are finding their way to this thread.
I know there has been an acceptance that it is nigh on impossible to discuss professional golf in wider terms without LIV and their golfers being discussed. LIV golfers play regular tour events and Majors, so it seems churlish to suggest there can never be any crossover between the LIV thread and this one. And, following a discussion with the other mods, that can continue.
But that agreement comes with a caveat please. At the first sign of any continuing argument stemming from the mention of LIV on this thread, the matter will be reviewed with the likely result being LIV will be confined to the LIV thread only.
Thanks all.
It's a fair point.Hopefully the same will apply to the LIV thread.
Seems like anything goes on there & people are allowed to just post to drag it down.
More than anything it will be interesting to see how the top pros play it because it’s brutal in the wind and the blacks looked a long way back when we were there - North East Scotland wind isn’t kind at timesInstead JCB has a free run that week.
Looking at the reports from the Snooker final - there was 150mil viewers from China who watched him win
Imagine if they can find a way to get that level of viewers from the far east but suspect would need a big name from China to break through and golf is not as accessible
I’ve imagined it.
Now what?
In which sport does the increase in money that administrators and players can make from the game, lead to vastly improved enjoyment levels from the game for its devotees?
Certainly not cricket, and rugby and not many at all IMO….I can’t see how a future boom in golf in China leading to probably hugely increases in money swilling around, leads to better circumstances for British golfers and golf viewers![]()
Is it about growing the game around the globe and tapping into markets outside the US and Europe
Snooker and Basketball were able to tap into a market and increase the global viewers
Cricket is trying by going into the US as well as the traditional hotspots
1) Yes but what is the tangible benefit to the viewer / devotee of that sport? It is those who make money from the sport, be it rugby, cricket, golf etc, who want to grow the game and (in cricket’s case) chase an ever-changing mythical ephemeral audience of promised riches..
Increased wealth to the game of golf doesn’t and won’t make your golfing life, nor mine, better at all.
2) LIV is doing a better job at expanding the game and tapping global audiences by taking the elite (and SOME/A FEW on LIV are the elite) around the world
What happens when the “devotee” stops watching ?
Can we not expand the sport beyond those devotees ?
Get more watching and playing the sport outside the traditional areas
It’s about benefiting the sport - snooker is benefiting from a new audience , it’s got a new young audience
Darts is benefiting from a new young star
The biggest market in golf is the US and the PGAT dominates that market and it’s had a big knock off affect in tour golf in other areas
The UK , Aus etc used to have multiple events and most have disappeared
Tap into as many markets and get more into the sport
It will help the already filthy rich golfers earn more money.Name a sport in this country in which the administrators are held in high regard by the sports core audience
Cricket devotees are being turned off by having no first class cricket in July and August, and having it pushed to April/May and September
Trust in the sport, don’t evolve the sport into something unrecognisable — that is sure to turn off your core audience
I don’t see how golf becoming suddenly popular in India and China will help you, and British golfers and be an unadulterated positive
I thought you were the most anti-LIV person on here, and the most pro-PGA Tour? Yet now these points you’re making are aligned with LIV…new audience, innovation, going global, changing it up from the staid and conservative and US-centric PGA Tour etc etc![]()

It’ll help golf manufacturers shift more product.
It’ll help tv companies make more money.
I wouldn’t notice it at all![]()
