Only every had Mizuno blades (mp-37 at the moment) but the rest of my bag has always been Taylor Made Drivers, woods, wedges etc I play off 6

The European Tour van was at a local demo day so I went along, I didn't ever mention that I wanted a specific club but they recommended Tour Preferred irons with a new Kbs tour fst S shaft, They fitted the clubs 2deg and 1 deg upright. My spin on sd iron was 6490 but they got it to 5800 which was recommended?

I've used them now for 10 rounds and they just don't go through rough anything like my mp-37's and I've lost distance of between half to 1 full club on a std shot from the fairway.

They say they are like a blade but they just don't feel right, anyone else had this going from blade to cavity type club.

People are telling me to go back to my blades, anyone have any thoughts on what they may do.

I've also been told as they recommeded them and it wasn't me asking for a specific club I should get a refund as they clearly don't work for me.

I'm going to another demo day to see if they can sort it out but I just can't see a tweek fixing this.

Sorry fo the essay but what do people think.

I am coming down and so really wanted to try the TP's and get on with them. I wasn't given the option of the shaft you had and only had R and S300's to choose from. In the end I'm not good enough to use them anyway. I'd suggest going to a practice ground somewhere and hitting a number of balls with your TMs and old blades and seeing exactly how far your are down distance wise. If you can't get any joy from the demo day I guess you either bite the bullet and use them, flog them or keep them as a spare set and maybe go back to them in a few months.

I've been to m practice round for 10 hours over the last couple of weeks and the last time took my Mizuno's as well. The mp-37's seem to go about 7 to 10 yards further than the Taylor Made.

I could possibly live with them from the fairway but not from the rough.

Feeling a bit gutted they don't seem to work for me, it's a very expensive mistake as they see to be only worth less than half what I paid only just over 2 weeks ago.

On the face of it, the TM should work well for you. The spin came down to something closer to what it should, and there should not be an obvious reason why the Mizunos are stronger. If anything, they may be weaker in loft. The KBS is also an excellent shaft, and the S flex should not be any harder to load than S300 (which I am guessing you had in the 37s). But there may be something in the feel of set up that just doesn't work for you.

I think you have a few options. First, get a pro or a good fitter to rerun the launch monitor and check that the data is correct. If you are 1/2 to 1 club shorter with the TMs, there should be some evidence of where you are losing the distance in terms of club or ball speed, spin or launch angle. Are you hitting the TMs higher or lower than the Mizzys?

If you decide you don't like them, you could sell that set pretty easily, I think. The KBS area hot shaft right now, and there is always a market for TM TPs.

Or, if you like the KBS but not the TM head, you could have the shafts swapped over to the 37s. I have 62s with PX and have just acquired a set of KBS to do exactly that.

Tour preferred are cast, mizzies are forged. The 'feel' thing might have a lot to do with it. Having now got myself a forged set I would find it very hard to go back to cast.

What was wrong with your mizunos that prompted the change?

If you aren't happy I would definitely get rid of the tour preferreds. The only problem is that you might be stuck with TM i.e. they may not give you a refund....how long have you had them for? You could try the TP irons (forged) as an alternative?

My Mizuno's are in very good condition, the only reason I went to look is I'm a bit of an Adidas/Taylor Made freak and change my Taylor Made driver every year. I though I'd just go for a test of some clubs but when the monitor came available I had a go on it.

My friend said the possible reason they don't come out of the rough as well is the leading edge of the TM are rounder than the Mp's ???

My Mp's do have a S300 shaft, the chap from the Euro van said these new shafts were about the same as S300 so should be good.

The same tour van is back over here in a week or so and I've been booked in so they can have a look at them, I'm also taking my MP's so they can compare and see why they aren't going very well.

S300 and KBS Stiff are broadly similar in terms of flex. The TMs are cast, but you hear people complain more often about losing distance with forged clubs versus cast than the other way round. The TMs and Mizzys actually have the same lofts.

I've noticed Garcia has gone back from the TP's I've just bought to the MB blades which they don'e sell anymore, maybe something to read into that?

I'm booked into Taylor Made on thursday so we'll see what they say.

Just used my Mizuno's the other day on a tight course I've only played once before and I was 6 over level with my handicap so was happy with that.

I also took both sets to a local club maker who has won awards over the years so seams to know what he is on about and when he put all the TP's together the ridges of the shafts didn't line up. The 2 iron (made to 1 iron) for example seemed to have a shaft from a 5 iron in it and the lines on all clubs didn't follow on so it looks like they've all been cut wrong. Have to see what the rep says.

I thought I'd update on the original post.

I took my Taylor Made irons back to the same tour van and they discovered they had not set the irons up, they had left them std loft lie.

The TM 6 was the same loft as my 7 Mizuno, I thought they were not going as far so this proved it. After they adjusted them I have played another 6 rounds and just can't get away with them so I've bitten the bullet and traded them for a new set of Mizuno MP-68's and they are even better than my old MP-37's so I'm now very happy.

Only my opinion but I love the TM drivers and woods and even like the Z groove wedges but the irons are just not as good, certainly not as good as Mizuno anyway.

I'm happy that I'm back to a solid strike and pleasing sound coming off te iron when I hit these.
