Private messages and thread read position

In the previous incarnation of the website, I used to get a little icon on the page telling me when I had a private message. I now get an email. but can I set up the envelope icon as before?

On returning to a previously read thread, we used to be directed to the place we had previously read to, rather than going to the first page - can I set that up too?

with regards to PMs top right corner in the green bat you have Notifications - this tells you if you have PMs (and/or you can get it so that you get a pop up when you log in)

To get to last read place you should have "view first unread" in blue at the top/middle

To jump to the first unread you can also click the little blue circle to the left of the thread title on the main list of threads.
