Played princes golf course on Wednesday and it was my first real test of links golf. Princes have 3 9 hole courses that are all very challenging. Was in great condition(but i'll get to that later). The practice green is fantastic and the clubhouse is superb. Al the staff were really friendly and helpful towards me seeming as it was my first junior open.
The course is absolutely stunning, and i enjoyed every minute of it. It is set up really tough, but i like challenging pin positions and sloping greens. Fairways were in magnificent conditions and the bunkers were actual hazards.
My advice if you are thinking of playing there ? play for position, not length. The rough was very penal.
On a hot summers day, each tee shot runs a country mile, so you have to be very cautious with the narrow fairways. there are so many attributes to the cause that can wreck a round, it was just fantastic
Checked the green fee's online afterwards and they're not too bad, but i would strongly recommend it. To date, it is the best course i've played and am playing it again in the next couple of weeks !
