Love the look on the young chap's face just before Prince starts playing. He knows what's coming!

I believe that's George Harrisons son. The thing is guitar playing was just one of his many talents, sometimes he played just about every instrument on a track, wrote, arranged and produced it. He could do rock, pop, blues, R&B, funk, psychedelia, you name it.

Final thing I'll say is that one of the most remarkable things about him live was that he was ageless. When you see every band over the age of 40 they are basically retreading their glory days, performing highly rehearsed perfect renditions of the studio songs which are becoming harder to distinguish from the live versions because of the quality of the sound system, instruments nowadays.

But with Prince, he went wherever he fancied. He could knock out the pop/rock hits, he could play obscure b sides and 20 minute funk jams. I saw him a coupe of years ago when he was in his mid 50s and I was stood very near the front, and it genuinely was weird as he could have been 20 the way he moved and looked. Which I think adds to the shock of his death as it's not as if he was some old band just doing it for the money as a lot of these tours by established artists tend to be. You could see the rest of his band watching him constantly as they never knew properly where he would go next, which I think is one reason why he was so good live as his various bands who have backed him up over the years needed to be absolutely red hot to keep up with him.

I was a bit young to fully appreciate Bowie but IMHO Prince was the most talented overall musician in terms of ability and performance this world has seen in my life time. And it goes without saying but a sad sad loss.

Very sad, truly talented musician with charisma, stage presence and star quality in abundance.

Lol, I gave in at 40 seconds!

Yes, one could argue they have reduced what was once a delicate, fragile but funky as hell work of pop genius into a generic guitar thrash. But hey, opinions vary. And at least it isn't the Tom Jones version.....;)

Jeez, you did well...I was done within 20 seconds.......patricks148, you should be ashamed lol, tainting such a thread with such an awful cover.

you guys are philistines, by far the best cover version ever

If you are talking best cover version ever then not even close. If you are talking best cover version of a Prince song then 'Nothing Compares to U' wins that. If you are talking best cover version of Kiss then if the only competition is Tom Jones's version then I'll give you that. ;)

Agree with you Hacker......I must be a philistine for not appreciating some amateur bunch of untalented kids who clearly can't sing a note!

Late 80s I was into Prince, The Pixies, Jesus and Mary Chain, Cocteau Twins, New Order and I went through a phase where I was obsessed with My Bloody Valentine. Agree they were no Mel and Kim or Rick Astley but I just swallowed whatever Melody Maker told me to like. ;)
