Price of Football 2014

Crazy imo, in Glasgow you've got 3 stadia capable of holding 50,000+ and two of these are classed as elite stadia. Utter madness that ground sharing hasn't been seriously considered.

I'd argue that wages down south at the moment trump the vast majority on the continent though, one of the reasons a lot of top stars flock to the EPL (admittedly not all).

It is crazy

The two milan clubs have a hatred for each for years but share

But Rangers and Celtic will never share a ground

I'm in agreement, I just think it's crazy it's not been considered. Too many half empty stadia up here, wouldn't be so bad if running costs were halved.

My season ticket was £395 and my daughters £250. Amazingly we have had some good entertainment so far, but still not sure if we are looking up at the play offs, or down on the relegation zone.

stack up OK with the league we're in[/QUOTE said:
Shame the points ratio isn't as good!

I'm a Reading fan and think prices are fair following our rise and fall from grace. Due to working some weekends and playing every comp I can a season ticket isn't viable for me however £25 a ticket with a "Royalty card" and a pie and pint/tea/coffee for a fiver makes a good day out once a month or so.

Now just hope we start picking up some more points ourselves!!

My season ticket at united is £910 (:() I now share it with my dad due to the cost. We used to have one each in tier 2 of the stretty at just over £500 but now he is disabled and unable to manage the steps so he had to move. It works out ok as I go most of the away games and Europe (not this season though :() and the old duffer who sits next to us doe snot always go so we have his ticket from time to time. The big rip off with united is that you have to pay to go to cup games no matter who it is you play. If you don't then you are unable to apply for away or get a cup semi/final ticket! Robbing gits!

I hate modern football.

Sky pump that much money into football now ticket prices should be affordable to all and not just some.

Football clubs aren't around now to win trophies, the owners care about making money at any cost.

They don't care who fills that stadium as long as they get there money. Using LFC as an example, they'd rather have Tarquin from Tunbridge Wells turning up spending £££ in the club shop rather than a local who won't buy anything from there.

It's all about greed.

Bang on Stuey mate.

I remember the days when you went to games and the fans from both teams were actually from the towns/cities. Now its just anybody who can afford a ticket.

Amen brother!

For the last 20 years or so I have felt increasingly detached from the game that I grew up playing & watching. No ambition on the part of many clubs other than to stay in the Premier League.

No consideration for those who actually wish to attend games, just how many games kick off at 3 o'clock on a Saturday?

So many foreign players that the England manager has only 23% of the players in the PL to choose from.

A media that has overblown the game to a ridiculous level.

Ticket prices set to levels that mean many of those from a traditional supporting background can no longer regularly go to games.

Players who, in Robbie Savage's words, don't know the price of a pint since even bog average pro's are earning in excess of £1m p.a.

I don't begrudge players sharing in the wealth but it has now got out of all proportion and this along with other factors means I find it hard to recognise this as football

What also gets right up my nose is how people don't/can't/won't form their own opinion of a match and have to rely on Andy Gray's last word or Sky's "expert" analyser's. And how finishing top 4 is much more important than putting silverware on the table.

All of this is driven by Sky and their agenda to make as much money as possible for their "brand".

Football is fashionable now,I honestly can't wait for sky to pull the plug on football, it may never happen but when it does it'll get rid of the hangers on who are only in it for the money.

Not looking likely in the short term Though with BT on board now talk in the next contract rights auction of another TV slot on a Sunday evening to take even more sat 3pm away.

this when the forum needs a like button, top post even for a Liverpool fan too ;)

The thing is, the money side will only get worse. Sport in general and football in the main, is the battleground that Sky and BT are competing on. Lose the football and you risk losing a massive chunk of your subscribers. It is now reached a stage where one or the other pretty much needs to pay whatever it costs to keep the PL on their channel.

It worries me that rugby is heading down a similar route but at least we have the salary cap in place to keep a modicum of control. How long that will last for is anybodys guess. That said, whilst silverwear remains important in rugby, it is the same in that a top 4 finish is all that anyone is looking for these days.
