Practicing during a medal

There was a rather infamous cheating incident at a club near me a few years ago. A player hit a good shot towards a hidden green, but couldn't find his ball when he got there. After a few minutes searching he announced that he had found it in the semi-rough down a bank behind the green. He chipped up close and holed the putt. It was somewhat embarrassing when an identically marked ball was found to be already in the hole! :mmm:

I love this; his cheating robbed him of being able to glory in his hole in one. That's Karma I'd say.

It is always worth checking in the hole if you can't find the ball after an apparently good shot to the green. There was a rather infamous cheating incident at a club near me a few years ago. hmm... I always like these apocryphal stories. So, a good shot to the green, no ball visible and no-one looked in the hole? Other people wanting to putt & needing the flag out, but didn't notice the ball in there? Ball not noticed till he holed out?

Not saying it didn't happen, and not saying it couldn't, but I'm sure I've heard similar before. Could be the same one I suppose?

It was possible that the player's original ball was found in the hole by a fellow competitor when he removed the flag. I wasn't actually present, but it is a true story, as the player got a lengthy competition ban for it. Think it also turned a birdie 2 into a par 4 before he was DQ'd!
