our greenkeeper is investigating the effect of using the new powakaddy winter wheels to limit damage to the course.
do they help ? At £60 they could make somebody a lot of money.

Trolleys are only allowed at my place with the Hedgehog/Hoppa attachments fitted. I think the science says they do decrease contact with the ground and stop the smooth wheel sliding and therefore damaging the turf.
Do the PK winter wheels have this sort of tread? Havn't seen them myself.

I'm awaiting delivery of a set of these wheels, courtesy of GM and will report back after testing them.........if the snow melts and the course opens.
They have been developed in conjunction with the green keepers association, so in theory should work.

Ye Gods they're ugly SOB's - saw a set fixed onto a Capri 20 years ago - looked ugly then too. :D

Hope they do work otherwise you're going to look like a real berk with those on.

Are they called Fatboy's by any chance? :p

Is he investigating the damage that HIS equipment causes to the course, his various tractors, cutters, diggers and the like?
They all weigh considerably more than any electric trolley ever could, not to mention the buggies for the lazy sod's that cannot even be bother walking.

if the greenkeepers association developed them,
must be nailed on to become the future,or even compulsory ?

Totally agree with drawboy some greenkeepers are the worst culprits.we now have to use hedgehogs which i dont mind, however when a green keeper goes up the course in wet conditions making a mess it would take me a month too make it p----s me off.

I have no problem using hedgehogs although they don't fit that well onto a GK and need cable ties (come on Go-Kart time to get this sorted!!). HID solved the problem by ordering a spare set of wheels so I can have one permanently fitted with hedgies and one without. I just need my pit crew on stand by in the car park depending on what the greenkeeper has decided is the order of the day.
