I was wandering if i might have a case for a claim.
Back in 2005 i bought a BMW from a main dealer,it cost £10,200.
I put 6k down, and the rest was on finance over 3 years.
I also took out gap protection which i claimed on after writing off the car after
2 and a half years.
Have i got a claim,thx

As I understand the rules IF you have made a claim on any of the insurance then you cant claim breach of the PPI regs. The PPI was also covering the payments on the GAP insurance

Gap insurance did not contain any Payment Protection Insurance but insured against the loss of the car due to accident/theft. The car costs X to but and you take out finance to pay for it. When it is stolen/wrecked it paid the depreciation on the asset to ensure you were covered for the full amount outstanding on the debt because the car devalues faster than you pay off the loan. I don't think there is a PPI claim because you are insuring the depreciation and not your repayments. Might be wrong though. No harm in asking

I thought he was implying that any PPI also covered his GAP insurance premiums as well as the finance and that he has made a claim on the Gap policy, my understanding is that once you have made a claim on any Policy to which PPI attracts then you cant then claim it was missold.

IF the Gap policy was a one off payment and separate PPI taken out to cover the finance then its a different matter, It depends on who finance provider was as to whether PPI would have been sold

GAP insurance is not PPI insurance so if it's as straightforward as that no, you haven't got a claim.
PPI insurance is protection on top of your normal monthly finance payments to cover you for sickness, accident, death or unemployment. If you didn't pay this, then no claim.
And you will only have a claim on PPI if you can prove that you were "mis-sold" the product.
We are still getting people trying it on and jumping on the PPI bandwagon trying to get a refund when it has been proven that they actually asked for it and knew what they were buying.
