police out in force this morning

heading to the course this morning, got pulled over twice by the police doing spot checks. one just down the road they were in the Highland Council HQ. Luckily had nothing to drink on Friday night as was picking the wife up from the station late on, then got pulled again down the Longman, as you passed the Barnet Rd police station.

Work time early morning speed checks the other day.
Placed just going out of a 20 mph zone in a nearby town high street.
So glad the turn off to my village is just out of the 20mph area so I naturally slow down [and get peeped my more than a few impatient drivers].

Seems to be normal for Police Scotland to have a crackdown the week before Christmas

We play golf with one group of occifers and they tell us quite a few stories about the traffic police. One that made me smile is that they often play 'traffic lights' when doing random stops. They stop a red one, a yellow one and then a green one.

When we were talking about drink driving a few weeks ago some posters were adamant that random stops didn't happen. Apparently they do after all. If it keeps us all safe, good on them.

They can stop anyone to check licence, insurance etc so don't need any other reason. In that respect it can be random. Whilst doing so they also get a whiff of someones breath and can gauge their demeanour. Random breath tests aren't allowed though. Has to be suspicion or an offence/accident.

Regular check along Seafield in Edinburgh during morning rush hour. There must be quite a few still affected by the previous nights refreshment 😉. This week will no doubt see an increase in police activity.

'Snooker' up here. Red, yellow, green, brown etc. Probably safer if you drive a white car!

Back in the day when I use to drink heavily and regularly HID use to pick me up each night (five minutes in a car to the pub) she would often get stopped by a police car hidden in the community centre next door or down a narrow road opposite the entrance. They use to get bitterly disappointed with her dressed in PJ's beneath a coat or to be zero when asked to blow into the bag!
