I'm considering not bothering to take the short walk to the local school tonight which acts as a polling station. Since I was 18 I have never ever not voted. It is a privilege not to be taken for granted regardless of any sense of apathy there may be to the candidates!!

Just attempting to find out who the candidates are but the web site is useless...

So - are you bothering??

No. I object strongly to the police being put under the direct control of a politician. In our area there are only two candidates...one Tory and one Labour...I wouldn't cross the road to support a member of either party (Or the Lib Dems if they could find a candidate!).

For me it's not a case of not bothering, but I will not be voting.

I'm a staunch believer in using your right to vote on matters, although you also have the right to not vote. On this occasion though, I do not believe that the role of PCC should be one that is supported by a political bias. In Gloucestershire, we have three candidates from the main parties and one independent. The independent is a former Police Officer at Superintendent level, but I know from serving officers that he has a poor reputation in the force so because of that and other issues, I am concerned about his suitability. Therefore, reluctantly I shall not be voting.

If the option was there, I would definitely vote "NONE OF THE ABOVE".

I'm not simply because I have no idea who the candidates are or what their plans are. There is a website but, if someone wants me to vote them into some form of Public Service - Council, Parliament or this - I expect them to make some sort of effort to inform me of who they are, what they stand forand what their plans are so I can make a decision.
I've had no information through, these people could be anyone but they obviously don't want my vote..

And what the hell have the Political parties got to do with it?

Kind of where I'm at. Did hear something about them not being allocated a "free mailing" but not sure why that should stop them knocking on doors. Just checked and we have 6 candidates I think (maybe 7) yet only 2 have even bothered to put an opening statement about themselves and none have a manifesto.

Don't get the need for it - don't really understand what I'm voting for so on that basis I'm out.

I have just voted, although I disagree with the election, because I always vote. Was chatting to the people supervising and they said they have had only 33 people in since 7am 1.6% of the electrate.
who's idea was this? no one really cares about it.

I will be going to the polling station but I won't be voting, all I will be doing is putting a letter into the polling box explaiining that I am not voting as we have heard nothing from any of the candidates, of which there are several, so I can not make an informed decision as to which candidate would be best for the position. I have no doubt my ballot paper will be thrown out as "spoiled" and my letter has more chance of being used to light a fire than being read.
THis is the biggest piece of BS voting I have ever come across.

nearly spoilt my paper, I completely agree with your reasons too.

I always vote in parliamentary and council elections, but I haven't voted in this. That is due to a combination of not thinking it matters a damn, as well as not knowing or caring to find out about any of the candidates. This is probably a good example of the type of job for which anyone expressing an interest should be barred.

I've looked up the candidates, and what each of them stand for.

The Labour candidate has openly said its a political election.
An independant who is a wrongly convicted ex-police officer but for some reason hasn't included that in his bio...
A Conservative candidate who's made a big thing at distancing himself from politics and paid his own £5k deposit.

But I'm too cynical and have decided not to vote.

Nope not voting on this one at all.

Been shambolically run from the outset, had nothing in local press about who the candidates are, what their plans are to reduce crime or anything at all. The first I even knew a name of one of the possible PCC's was today at work when one of the girls said she had been to vote and who for.

I also don't feel the role of PCC should belong to one of the parliamentary parties so that they can use it to gain political advantage.

Funniest thing I've heard though today on the radio at lunchtime was that one of the polling stations in my local area in the first 5 hours of voting had a total of 2 voters through the door! That says a lot to me.

My polling station is 20 yards from my front door and I have hardly seen anyone go in. I did vote, for non of the above.

Not voting as I do not want to give this election any legitimacy, putting a dabbling amateur politician in a post that reqiures a seriously effective manager is just plain daft.

Won't be voting as, for reasons that escape me, us Londoners have not been gifted this priviledge...

I believe the reason for this is something to do with London already having an elected Mayor who has this position as part of his/her remit. So there you go, you have Boris Johnson already. And you thought you were screwed before....
