Playing with yourself...

I have to play on my own quite often sadly. Most of my mates don't play golf and the few that do can't always play when I can due to me being away in the week at work. A few lads in work play but it's just finding the time really. I think I play better when I'm playing against someone but as usual my best looking shots have been done when I'm on my own

Played on my own quite a few times, have to push myself to really concentrate on my shots as it tends to go a lot easier when there aren't other people around but I enjoy it for the most part especially if the course is quiet.

Thanks all, some good points there. Think my problem is if I play more than 1 ball I pretty quickly lose focus.
I want to improve, get a handicap and be an active club member. Particularly like the idea of playing against the course (hadn’t thought of that before), makes practise more realistic and I can go to the range if I want to work on something specific.
Am very much an early bird for Golf & agree there’s no better time to play than a fresh, crisp morning.

@ Birchy - joined about 2 / 3 weeks ago. Is round the corner so really convenient. Haven’t been overwhelmed with the welcome to be honest, a set of photocopied rules, a key & a bag tag and off you go!! Would be happy to take you up on your offer, really appreciated

@ The Craw - "Well Jel". Never thought I'd say this but I wish I lived in that part of the world.

@ Five&one - Where does the nine strokes come from? Is it your handicap?

It was the same when i joined mate. I didnt even get any rules though so i only found them out by breaking them

Grogger, Davyhulme isn't too far away if you fancy a game. If you're only good weekends can swing first thing Sundays & Later in the afternoon (say from 4 onwards) with 'the boss'.

I usually play on my own as none of my mates play golf though currently deciding which local club to join and chosing on basis of where it will be easier to meet guys in similar positions who I could get out for a game with.
