Playing with low handicappers !

I went to my club late morning with a plan to practise my chipping for an hour or so and ended up being roped into a game with two young newly turned pro's and a four handicapper. 9 shots in hand, I and one of the new pros cleaned up and I have to say that they were all great company (I did know them all quite well) and it certainly helped me to concentrate more and play well.


Do you play with guys much lower than you and do you enjoy it - I for one had a great afternoon!

Yes & yes, it might be a pain for them but always play better when against decent golfers,

I love playing with low handicap players. A joy to watch.
The ones I don't like are the youngsters who bomb it absolutely miles and swing at 200mph.
You end up trying to swing that little bit faster to keep up with them (some hope!) and the game goes to pot.

I realised that there was no chance, my partner was 19 years old, about 6ft 3in and even if I'd played off a short run up I couldn't hit as far - I did post earlier though that I was the longest drive on stroke index 1, he did hit a tree though!

Don't get to play with lower handicaps very often, I think there's only 4 or 5 lower than me at the club.
The GM Centenary bash at Hanbury and the PowerPlay at the Grove saw me grouped with 3 handicappers.
Played like an arse so it obviously doesn't do me any good.....

sorry to break it to you imurg, but you ARE a low handicapper! :ears:

I did actually achieve the longest drive of the 4 of us, on stroke index 1, and a 6 iron onto the green later from the middle of the fairway, and a half with the 4 handicapper, I was well pleased.

Pros outdriven by an old fart with metal hips? ......they'd better be learning to teach!

I regularly play with a 4 handicapper and a few pros, and sometimes, my game does improve. It's watching the pros that make me go "wow". One has european tour experience, and its amazing to watch. First round I played with him, he shot 65, with 9 birdies and 2 bogeys. Unbelievable!

I love playing with low handicappers. Motivates me to get better and I seem to up my game when I do.

I love having a round with low handicappers.

I love watching how they play the course. How they pick their spot. Know when to attack and play safe.

I like to think I can learn something off them mainly about course managment, rather than playing specific shots.

I bet they are too, especially as they are not used to losing money

I prefer to to go round with a lower h/caper as I focus more, most importantly pick their brains, and on the odd occasion (hopefully) outscore them which is good for the confidence.

To be fair, one pulled into the trees and the other pushed into them on quite a tight fairway. the hole is 418 yards and I was on the 150 markers to the middle of the green.

Maybe the answer to everyone is not to buy a new driver but strap a lump of cobalt to the top of each leg!
