Playing On Your Own

I used to avoid going out on my own but was basically wasting my money while waiting for a friend to actually bother deciding to play. Started to go up alot more on my own now and rarely get in a full 18 with it staying that way. Just today for example, I arrive at the teebox and get ready while a 3 ball is teeing off. They ask if I'm on my own and I confirm I am. Voila, now a four ball hits the course. It's a great way to get to know other members and makes it much easier if staring at a time sheet for a space on a competition day if you have a rough idea if you can get on with the other guys or not.

I joined a club this year to get more golfing in,play once a week with relative's.I am going to start going early morning and evenings to go around on my own to get practice and feel of course, have done range outings but struggle after so many balls(bored). How many people enjoy the range ?

Just started playing and I go regulary on my own. Have sometimes joined other golfers when invited and also played with friends but mainly on my own. As some say it is a great way to practise without the pressure of scoring and I too tend to find I play my best golf on my own as no feelings of machoness and I keep the drivers in the bag and play much better course management.

I love playing on my own almost as much as playing with other people!

As has already been said, it's a great way of getting out onto the course and trying things out. Nothing better than having the course to yourself when the sun is setting and practicing around a green. I find it really relaxing and a good opportunity to unwind and get away from everything. I don't think I've ever played after work and NOT seen another solo golfer. Loads of people do it so get out there and give it a try!

I quite enjoy it now and again as it allows me to sometimes play 2 balls so I get a fair bit of practise in....I also score the first ball in the skycaddie so I have an objective during the round.

I think if i was just digging it round without an objective i would get bored and start not caring about the shots and rendering the process as a bit useless.

But certainly do not feel like an idiot....unless i knob one off the tee!

Its BORING playing on your own the ONLY reason I do it is to practice, its not a proper round, dont take a card out with me.

A bit of solitude and your own company is bliss in my opinion.

I far prefer playing a few holes or a round myself than join up with a complete and utter stranger.
