Playing abroad as single golfer

Played several times in Turkey (lucky to have a house there). Not many Turkish players to be honest, quite a few ex-pats who tend to think their a class above. The Germans take it too seriously so the best people to join in with are the Norwegians. Because of the high wages in Norway they think everything elsewhere is cheap so they are generous at the bar and like to get lashed.... my kind of people:lol:

You shouldnt have any problems, I've played in loads of different countries and usually get paired up into 2, 3 or 4balls. Everyone is there to play golf, just relax and enjoy the experience

I've been lucky enough to play golf in Dubai, Maderia, the US, Thailand and South Africa (lucky in that the wife lets me play when we're on hols) and each time have been paired up with great company. I got invited to play in the South African National Welders Association golf competition once, which was hilarious!

Maybe I've been fortunate, but I have no problem being paired up on a course. I've played with Germans, Dutch, Swedish, French, Japanese, Koreans, Irish, Americans, South Africans and Czechs and found it a rewarding experience each and every time.

Go for it!

Let me guess......
None of them understood English????

None of them swore in English!

I have also played a few times in America and have really enjoyed the company of the guys I have been put with. At the end of the day most people are there on holiday and looking to enjoy a game of golf and that makes the common factor.

The one thing I have noticed, particularly in my last game, their handicaps seemed a bit low, they were off around 8 and 9, and thought to myself, not around Bogside you would be that.
