Playing a different course.

50-60 miles.
If it's much more than an hour I wouldn't bother as my back probably couldn't take being in the car that long and then playing golf soon after.

the furthest ive been is 220 miles, was a adult and junior comp with my nephew at chipping sodbury had intended weekend at parents but it went belly up and day started off at 5am.

Depends on the course.

Last year I travelled an hour and a bit to Beau Desert, over 2 hours to Blackmoor (which, admittedly was an overnight trip as I played Camberley Heath too) and over 2 hours to play at Murph's place before playing 9 holes at The Grove.

And I'm travelling 2 hours + to play 36 holes at Woburn next month.

For a normal weekend knock, I'd still stretch to 2 hours max if I was making a day of it and it was worth the trip.

made the six hour drive to Machrihanish last year for Crawfords get together, it took another 9 hours to get back though.

3 hours for just a game in St Andrews is about the limit for a non stay over.

If we are talking about a round of golf just for the sake of playing a round then I would say 1hr max.
Organised events/special invites are a different matter and would go up to 3hrs.

Depends on the course. Went from Bracknell over the Severn Bridge to Chepstow to St Pierre. Couple of hours. Same to the FoA. Another couple of hours. If I was going to Southport in September I'd make the effort but would probably turn it into a long weekend. Wouldn't contemplate trying to do something like that in a day. I guess about 150 miles max for a day trip

The majority of times I've driven much more than an hour I've normally played pretty rubbish so try to restrict it to that.

Depends on the company and the courses. I've lined up a trip to Vegas for the end of March with a couple of guys through another golf forum.

Furthest I've driven is Turnberry, I did stop over the night though.

According to Google it's 333 miles, 5 hours 49 minutes.

The worst of it was I'd not played seriously for years and so played like a complete A***. It did make me start playing regularly again though so I'm thankful for that.
