Played my first round of the year today...... at long last!
Work commitments, bad weather and general lack of time have made a severe hinderance to my game. Today was my first chance to play, course open, normal greens, some winter tee boxes! (boo)
1st hole was a nightmare, sliced my drive and then played regimental golf up the fairway to the hole!
Ditto for the next 3 holes. I put it down to lack of practise and suggested I needed to "get back into the swing of things"
Things did indeed get better as our round progressed. Some lovely drives, iron play looked quite good in many areas (I have struggled with this aspect of the game for some time, so was well pleased)
Putting was god on the longer shots but a bit rusty with the shorter putts.
Had a nearest the pin on the par 3 18th for a quid. I landed mine 3 feet from the hole to take the readies.
Enjoyed a warming mug of tea and sandwich and reflected on my round.
Overall, very pleased. Not my best round by a long chalk, but very enjoyable all the same.
Drove home afterwards and thought to myself just how much I love the game.
Can't wait for next weekend now. I think I'll have to give the range a visit during the week too!
Anybody else get the same elated feeling after a round? Regardless of how well they've played?
