So I didn't even enter it anyway, but played this morning on my own, was nice and relaxed, the course was empty and I had the sun shining.

Relaxed was not the word with my swing today, it was just effortless! Anyway, smashed my old personal best, hit 80% of fairways and when I missed it was not by much, irons were good, chipping and pitching was superb and I almost chipped in twice! Putting was pretty good too, no 3 putts and was unlucky not to sink a few of the longer ones!

Anyway, par 71 with my handicap this morning of 19.8' proceeded to shoot 79!!! Net 59! That's a nice 12 under and a cut of 3' so now at 16.8. Stableford worked out at 48 points!!! So i am now well on my way to their end of year target of 14!

It's been coming for ages, I just haven't managed to string 18 holes together, had 3 birdies, 2 double bogeys, and the rest single bogey or par! Chuffed is not the word! And although I played on my own, I was very strict, no gimmes, no improving of lies etc, played as if I was in a comp.

Roll on my next game!

thata some shooting. what were the conditions like? how come you were allowed to play on your own? im sure you have to play with at least 1 partner at my course.

Sunny, slight breeze, we have not had much rain down here, so actually very pleasant! And as I look outside, it's just started to rain! Weekdays, they don't care as long as they have people playing, I reckon the we're no more than 15 people on the whole course.... And my hcap is not official, I am not a member anywhere, just keep track of it online...

Thats good shooting mate, but as the others have said, a comp off the back tees with a card - and then you have CSS to contend with!

The online handicap trackers are good but you may find it flatters you, mine did before I joined a club!

Good shooting chap - the trick is to stay that relaxed even when the card is in your hand, easier said than done! You're obviously knocking it about well though so enjoy and keep going lower!

Thanks all for the thumbs up! was well chuffed and as i played on my own, i had no one to relive it with! Mrs Rooter is not easily impressed!! Saw your thread too Curls, you seem to be tearing it up too!! Keep it up!!

PS. Appreciate the reality checks too, i know the course i played very well and its probably the easiest course in my area.. so I am not expecting 79 to be regular! (YET!!!)

No no no stay positive and go for 70's every time!

Sounds like you need to get a membership somewhere, get a card in your hand and do it for real. Could have a few pieces of silverware for HID to clean with scoring like that

Would love to, but getting my golf in before my third child arrives in June! Then I really won't have any time for golf! Plus HID hates trophies, even my bike racing ones have to live in the garage!
