Just going out to restock as am off on a two day trip tomorrow.

Are Pro V1 etc... the same as me trying to use blades i.e something to save for when i've dropped 20 shots!

Thanks

Stick with them. Premium balls are nice but very frustrating to lose and if you are anything like me as a high HC ball contact is rarely consistent enough to make the most of the advantages offered by them. Personally I use PD Softs as they offer a little bit nicer feel of the putter than most of the distance balls and have a nice price point (about £10 a dozen). If I do use a premium ball it is a found one or I've won it as a prize. If I were to change I think I'd probably try the Wilson ball. There seems to be a lot of positive feedback on the DX3 which seem to offer a great balance of high feel with lower price point.

Main thing is. Find something you are happy with and stick to it.

You cant go wrong with Srixon. The AD333 and Soft Feel are really nice balls and around the £13 mark for 12, probably less for bulk buy too. Callaway can be ok too, you can pick up some Warbirds for about £10 a dozen I think

Play with whatever gives you confidence if that's pro v's and you ate happy buying them use them if you want to save a few quid then try nxt/ nxt tour or ad333 but you need to be happy with what you use

I've been playing the DX3 recently and have been impressed.

I trialed a Pro V1x today and have to say I was very impressed by both its flight and green side control.

I seriously doubt that the choice of ball makes a blind bit of difference so long as you are using something half decent and not range balls or pieces of rock. Buy something at a reasonable price and don't feel you need ProV1s.

I use round white ones that other people leave lying around the course.
I do spend out on new ones occassionally when I've won some in the 2s comp and normally buy AD333s.

90% of golfers could not tell one ball from the next.
Use whatever you like. Srixons and Titelist solos are probably best VFM.
Don't be suckered into buying expensive balls because the 10 handicap wannabees at your club advise you to.

I'm with connor. I have some titleist velocity and love them. Played with the pro v1s and lost all of them so untill I improve will use them. I had ago of them taylormade rocketballz and didn't like them at all.

There's not much to choose between balls in reality. I see a lot of dodgy players wasting their money on the "top dog" stuff, and I can't see the point.

Find one you like, only swap it it something else comes along that gives you a bit more in some respect.

I've swapped from DX2/3 to Bridgestone e6. NOT a ball that most players would benefit from i.m.o.

Works for me, I get a little more carry on my drives and short irons stop a little quicker, which is also good, as I tend to club up in doubt. Can't say it helps my score, although today I stopped a wedge rather successfully on our SI 1 hole and rolled in the 4 footer for par. Normally, I land it on the front and hope! :)

It's good to putt with too. I can't putt with AD333s, otherwise they are good. The man from Bridgestone said the e6 will spin more than AD333, and he's right. Nice :)

I do not compress the ball enough to warrant the use of pro v 1's or penta's ! I like the following :
Ad333
Velocity
Dx3
Nxt tour

Buy some pearl grade balls off eBay and have fun trying hem out :)

I tried out the prov1x the other day and didn't like them at all, felt very hard and didn't feel right off the putter. Just my opinion as I know plenty of people who love them! Usually play a dx2/ad333/Nxt tour. Just seem to get on with them I think most of it is personal preference.

If you want somewthing a bit more controllable around the greens I'd look at AD333, NXT Tours or Wilson DX3's. All are relatively cheap, certainly compared to premium balls and if you shop around you'll find some great bargains

I have a question re balls..... my new club has a good practice ground so I want to make use of that some days not just play endless rounds. What do people do for practice balls? Use anything, old crap balls or buy some low grade lake balls the same as my match ball (NXT tour)? At the moment I only have a dozen or so match balls so need to get some practice balls sorted soon, as well as buy some NXt tours.

I have found nxt tours to very good at everything. Long off the tee, good on iron shots and nice feel around the green. I paid £32 with free p+p for 72 Grade A NXT tours off ebay the other week.
