Reading all over social media that the S&n have posted a video of the crash on you tube !! Maybe one day they will learn to show some respect

Was performing a loop and was suppose to pull out and finish by flying across the airfield for the crowd. No idea what happened or why the pilot didn't eject but horrific carnage on the road. Poor souls had nowhere to go. More and more clips coming into Sky/BBC/internet but to be honest isn't it just modern reporting and if done responsibly and obviously not showing anyone dying or being maimed/injured isn't it just reporting the facts as they happened

Very sad news particularly as I live in Bournemouth and we have our 4 day airshow on this weekend as well. All the displays here take place over the sea, with an estimated 2 million viewers over the 4 days I shudder to think of the carnage if something similar happened here.

There vid didn't show the actual plane crashing when I looked at that one

No, it stops it just prior to impact and then restarts it with the fireball immediately after impact. To be honest they might as well have shown the lot for all the difference that it makes.

No idea what happened or why the pilot didn't eject

Pilots generally won't eject over land in these circumstances; they will stay in and make every attempt to save the plane or get it to a place where the damage is minimised. Doesn't look good if he ejects and walks away without a scratch whilst the plane is left to its own devices. If they can get it onto a course where it will ditch at sea they'll bale as the damage is pretty much minimised in human terms.

Was looking after the kids today and was in two minds whether to pop to Shoreham or not being only 15 mins down the road....went swimming instead so thankful for that. Truly tragic and exceptionally unlucky as there is so much waste ground around the airport - to hit the road was horrific.

I went to the Eastbourne airshow when I was down at Cooden Beach playing last year, everyone was on the seafront, all the planes old & new flew across the frontage out at sea, flypasts, loop the loops all over sea, with Shoreham being so close to the seafront I can't see why the same isn't adopted, those that want to see take-offs and landings or walk around the planes can go to the aerodrome but those that only want to see the planes in action go to the seafront, I hope the decision to have it more inland wasn't a financial one to attract more people to the aerodrome rather than a mass free viewing at the seafront! I'm sure people would make contributions to a bucket being walked along the seafront as it was at Eastbourne, especially when its to raise funds for charity.

Terrible tragedy on a road I've driven on a lot recently :(
