I know I am one of the 'new' guys around here and I don't want to tread on any toes, but I feel this place would beenfit from having a few 'Official/Pinned' Threads, espcecially in The Lounge where everything is about golf.

I just feel that a lot of posts being created are about the same things, so to save this 'clutter' and other posts going astray, I think it would be a great idea if the Mods (if they have the power) to create Official Threads and pin them to the top of The Lounge forum.

All 'replies' to threads can be given a heading, so new posts in these threads shouldn't go unoticed.

Post your ideas in this thread as to what you think would make great 'Official' threads worthy of being pinned. My list is below:

- A 'How Was Your Round' Thread: Loads and loads of new threads get created by people to let people know how their round went. I think by having just the one official thread would get rid of these threads and people can discuss the Good, The Bad & The Ugly Rounds that they have had.

- A 'Away Day' Thread: We all have our home courses and we all go on 'Away Days' to courses everyone knows or some that very few no about. We like to tell people about our experiences and to have one place for people to post would be nice.

- A 'Handicap' Thread: The majority of us have them, the remainder of us are in the process of obtaining one. Having one place where people can discuss whether they have gone up 0.1, been chopped 2 shots or want discuss anything do with Handicap Adjustments would be nice.

- A 'Recommend Me' Thread: I see lots of threads where people are asking for people to recommend them a bag or a club. This would be a place were you can post this recommendation and people can offer their advice.

If anyone can think of any others that they feel the forum would benefit from then post them here and if people think it's a good idea, hopefully a Mod can put something in place.

If you all disagree then I'm sure you'll all tell me where to go :D

I personally dont think its needed.

I know I prefer to open up say "the lounge" and see all the titles of threads, then I pick and choose which ones interest me from the title and obviously dont read the ones that dont interest me.

Having pinned threads for certain subjects would lead to me reading less and less posts and therefore losing interest in the forum.

So its a resounding "NO THANKS" from me

I thought I'd voice an opinion and if you all think it's not required then I totally respect that, being a member of plenty of forums I have seen this work.

Each forum is different and different members will like different ways of the forum opperating.

All that would happen is you would have however many threads and nothing else, then the forum would stagnate and lose members.

Not for me.

The variety of topics (even if some are similar) is one of the attractions of the forum. I can read (or not) if I choose and participate (or not) if I choose very easily.

Long threads are often off-putting in that you have to wade through so many irrelevant or uninteresting posts to find something of interest.

Threads on this forum that are dull or repetitive will drop off the first page very quickly as few will reply or respond. Threads that are interesting, entertaining and, especially, controversial will stay near the top of the front page for many hours/days.

Keep it as it is for me. But nothing wrong with raising the idea though. :)
