Anybody use PING irons?
I imagine they do.

Just wanted some feedback on how you found them.
Would be interested to hear any comments please.

Renowned as substance-over-style, Ping really do make quality clubs. They are a company who would rather make an ugly club that helps golfers hit good shots, than sexy irons that offer minimal forgiveness.

Their custom-fitting (if that's your thing) seems to be second-to-none... so much so that they don't allow stockists to sell online directly, requiring stores to check what 'dot' (Ping's measuring guide) your irons should have.

You need to be careful if/when buying second hand as there's a lot of fakes out there. However, their customer support and after-sales service is impeccable.

Saying all this, this thread could generate everything you need to know about Ping's iron range, past and present. The only thing it won't answer is whether they are good for your swing, your budget, your eye or your enjoyment.

I appreciate they have created this idea about custom fitting however the results of a recent customer fitting during a Ping Demo day by a fitter from Ping shook my faith in their process as he suggested to me that I need +1/2 in my irons which as I'm 5'10" I was very surprised about as the Ping Static chart suggest I am Standard, also I suggested I am a midsize grip but I measurements suggests a standard grip, but when we looked at the standard grip demo it was too small from my hand so we went to a midsize grip on the demo shaft.

I am in the process of looking at new irons and I like the look of the Ping Ie irons, as I like the idea of not having to buy a set 4i - PW as I only use 5i - 9i and then dedicated 46 52 and 58 wedges and hybrids at the top of my bag, I tired the Ie and the G, the G was longer but the spin was lower and the loft stronger so the 8 yrds difference was because of this, and the look of the Ie suits my eye better at the ball.

I personally find the G, G30 and G max ugly to look at but clearly they are very functional.

I have also always bee very impressed with customer service I have a G30 Driver and changed to shaft to their Tour 80, they adjusted the swing weight back to spec and there was no charge.

Thanks so far.
I'm booked in for a custom fit with them and have always found their clubs to be the least visually appealing of all irons, but I don't really care about that and I will buy the clubs that are best suited to me.
The game is hard enough so if the clubs are the best for me I'll take them.

The other reason I mentioned it is that I've never spoken to anybody who has PING irons who doesn't love them.

I think it depends on the model...I have had the i version since the 15's and loved them until unfortunately the last offering i e....although I think it was shaft related. Just didn't get on with their stock CFS shafts. All the others had KBS tour 90's in them.

In my view the best of that crop were the i20's.

Had Ping G15 Irons for a number of years, good clubs and very forgiving. Were great for when I was just starting out but as I improved they were just a bit too chunky for my liking. I like the look of the new ping I blades and if they suited my game I would have no issues going back to Ping.

Love my Ping I's and don't think they look ugly either. Always found the stock shaft's decent too !

I've owned forged clubs too and can't really tell the difference between my pings and forged clubs either !

I had i20s. Great irons... but the weights kept falling off the back...my pro sent the lot back to Ping with a rude note.... within a week a brand set of i25s arrived... and an apology. These are just as good in my view. I also like the look of them... Plenty of help for a 13 handicapper and I can work the (out of the trees!) when I need to.

Had my Ping G30's for couple years and love them, 4-PW and Driver. Didn't like the hybrids at all. Although nothing wrong with them I do like the idea of getting some new clubs something a little bit more "sexy" looking.

Very good range of clubs. Something for every level of skill.

I had G10's when started and they were a brilliant iron for a beginner, they still are.

I'm using s56's at the moment. Really good better players iron and lot more forgiving than most on the market, you do notice a drop off in distance in the longer irons on an off centre strike. But they feel great when you middle one

Got g30's and absolutely love them. Went to a few manufacturer fittings and ping was both the best experience and the best results. Dont really care what they look like - id rather be hitting good shots than admiring what my irons look like. Recommended.

Ping Karsten for me. Love them. Been playing Ping for a long time- moved away twice but quickly came back to them again. Have just tested the Ping i E1 and The Ping G. Loved the look of the new I but the New G with Stiff shaft was giving me better numbers during testing. Now wondering should I change.

That is as honest an assessment I have read on here in the last year, and I own a set which I was custom fitted for at Gainsboro. ( brilliant experience). Such honesty from virtuosity has no place on this forum 😁👍
That aside, the pings I bought ( Gmax) although not a patch on looks compared to my previous Titleist 714s for me are a far superior club. When it comes to forgiveness and distance. However and this is a massive however. Because of the large sole they are dire when chipping in and around the green. I have been getting better but the sole of the clubs when chipping just seem to bounce. That aside my wedge play is getting better with my Vokeys.
What I will say is I occasionally see people playing with Older pings and I think they look a thing of beauty, akin to looking at a classic car.
What has been difficult for me to get my head around is seeing a distance on my sat nav watch and thinking with my titleist it would be a 7 iron but now an 8 or nine with Ping, but also with better flight and height.
