Ping G20 or G25

I hit the G25 irons last year and was impressed, didn't look too hideous behind the ball like some of the earlier ones.

Very easy to hit, just went way too high for me. Very good irons though.

Edit, you tried the AP1 irons? One of my mates has them and look pretty good aswell. Not sure if they're comparable to G25 though?

I was all set to buy a set of G25's to replace my i15's, arranged a fitting and asked if I could take the demo club out on the course. Despite hitting them fantastically on the range alongside the i20's, I simply could not get away with them on the course.

My advice would be to see if you can borrow a set or a demo iron, take it out on the course and see how you get on with it.

I ended up staying with the i15's but later bought a set ex demo Titleist AP1 712's. The Pings are good but try not to limit yourself to one brand. I know at least one very good single figure player who plays with G20's. They may not be the best looking clubs but they are very effective and perform as advertised.

I am really finding it difficult to understand the "stick with the X20s advice". The X20s first appeared in 2008.Is it really being suggested that there has been little or no progress in iron design or performance since then? Until of course 2014 when brand new shinies will suddenly do the trick?

I was just referring to the fact that it appear your might looking at older second hand clubs. If your looking for a brand new set of shinnies then go for it and get the new G30s or if PING are still selling the G25s custom fitted, you might get a real bargain on them now.
