Ping G20 irons

Haven't hit them but on looks alone there's nothing between the G20 and the G15 irons, hybrids or woods.
Allegedly, Ping don't introduce a new club unless it is measurably better than the one it replaces.
The G15 range is as easy to hit as Audley Harrison so how they can improve on that is a mystery to me....

Steve mate. You're a great ball striker . Why are you thinking of changing ? :D

You're too good for the super game improvement irons.

Changing too often!!.. Never good.!

Got my name down for a demo. Also going to be trying the R11 irons which I am really looking forward to. Will be interesting to compare them to the current CB range. Its a great time to be looking for clubs with Mizzy offering some sexy looking clubs, the new Ping range etc. Anyone know if anyone else has offerings on the horizon

Took the new G20s out yesterday and today

Had some fun with the irons yesterday cos they kept hitting the ball straight, and my normal drawy/pull antciiapation meant i was hitting them a bit off line - much better today when aiming for middle of gerens.
The wedges were a little hard to get used to yesterday because of tehir "big bottoms" but today, 5 or 6 up and downs with them. I think i am going to get on really well with them.
The hybrid is a super club, and the fairway wood is gret off the tee, and occasioanlly rockets off the fiarway, but not all teh time yet.
Very pleased with them

Saw the G20 up close today. They look like a typical Ping offering but the one thing that put me off was the wedge. It looks so fat and nasty and for chipping in particular it just looks so wrong behind the ball. FOr that reason alone I'm out and won't be buying them. Still like the look of the TM MC and CB and will be interested to try those against the R11 when they come out. Not a huge Mizzy fan so not much chance of me trying their new wares. I think if Ping bring out a slimmer I20 model I'd have another look

Cheers mate, due to problems with my back the shafts in my irons are to stiff nowadays and need all the help i can get to be honest ,i know changing isn't the greatest but its needs must, just thought i'd ask the guys on here if anyone had hit them.

Homer - i was a little concerned with the bottoms of the WSU and L. First round with them at Bicester on Sat i was having a bit of trouble getting used to them, but i took them out to Newbury RC yesterday and on firm ground i had got used to them already and had 5 or 6 up and downs. Nice softer feel than you woudl expect, which presumably comes from the elstomeric black bits.

Very pleased with the irons, and especially the hybrids/woods

The driver and the fairway woods look very good and they will be worth a hit. The hybrid looks like fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way. The irons look great until you get to the short ones (8-PW) where they just look to cumbersome to give me any confidence. They almost say "we know you aren't great but we're here to help" Now I know that is what they are designed to do and for a lot of golfers they will be perfect but in my short irons I want something that is going to make me feel good and want to get it close. The G20 don't

Took a trip to AG in Slough today and had a bash with the G20 driver, 20 Degree Hybrid, 7 iron & PW

I currently have mostly G15's so was interested to see the difference, if any, Took my current clubs in to compare

Driver (Currently Titleist 910 D2)
Hit 10 balls, ranged from 170 to 199 on the screen, spread all over the place, some big slices.a few off the fairway

G20 Driver, hit 10 balls ranging from 185 to 220 most down the middle and those that did fade were still in play, about 30 yard dispersal.

NOTE im taking dispersal as the width of the group of balls
discounting any duffs

Hybrid 20 degree, G15 hit 10 balls ranging from 160 to 185 yards , 20 yard dispersal

G20, 20 degree, hit 10 shots ranging from 165 to 195 with a 15 yard dispersal

7 Iron, G15, 10 shots 130 to 153 yards . 15 yard dispersal

G20 7I 10 shots 135 to 160 yards 10 yard dispersal

PW G15 10 shots 90 to 108 yards 10 yard dispersal

G20 PW 10 shots 05 to 105 yards 5 yard dispersal

The G20's seemed much straighter, generally longer and closer together.

Might well be on ones shopping list for my "Significant" birthday at Xmas

Did they all have the same shafts Phil....
That may have been the reason for the differences.

Took delivery of my new G20 Irons on Friday and have played 3 rounds with them and so far so good. They're at least 10 yards longer than my G10's which I'm plesantly suprised at especially as the weather's been a bit colder the last few days so i'd expected the ball not to be flying so far. I'd also forgotten the difference the feel of new grips make.

Hit the G20 irons the other night. Very forgiving but flew too high for me (standard shaft in R flex). Would be interested in the I20 when they came out but definitely think a C/f would be required to get the optimum shaft

They were all standard regular

Im not really after increased distance as such, but the spread of the g20's was very impressive

Just wondering mate...
Iv read a few articles about Ping changing the standard stock shafts from AWT to CFS stell in the irons...

Had a quick peek there but the difference is very minimal...

Dont give into the shiney's...Keep the 15's....Your pocket will thank you for it. ;)
