Bought a set of Ping G15 Irons this morning second hand but took them out for a round and all my shots were a good bit left and was missing greens all round. found them great to hit but they were fitted for him and are green dot which after looking on pings website means 2.5 upright. auchterlonies in St andrews said they would adjust them for me as they think they are too upright. would this make me go left or is it me :D

Possibly, as the heel of the club would strike the ground momentarily before the ball which could twist the clubface closed at impact. Best to change the lie angle to your required setting and test them - if they still go left come back to us!!

A lie angle that is too upright will cause the heel of the club to hit the ground first, which will close the clubface and produce a pull or hook.
OR
The clubs are offset and are causing the face to be a little closed with your regular swing
OR
You are having a bad day
OR
You're not used to them yet.

Either way, green dot (+2.5) is quite a bit really.
The taller you get, the more you might need to have upright clubs. The measurement from wrist to floor also has to be considered.
I'm 6' with an average w2f distance and get on best with 1 or 2 degrees up. But upright on one make is not the same as upright on another.

Try an impact board or just go and get them adjusted.

My clubs are one degree flat and I found that when I first used them I was hitting most shots a little to the right. I'm ok with them now but this might help back up your "theory"....

Clubs that are too upright will hit the ball to the left for a right handed player because the toe of the club will be higher than the heel, causing the loft of the club to aim slightly left. Not dissimilar to a sidehill lie with the ball above your feet.

Sounds like they are too stiff for you.
sorry, should have said they are regular ping shafts. played rifle 5.5's before and found them stiff hence one of the reasons to change when i got a deal on these albeit not to my spec. cheers for the input guys and will go to the fitting shop asap to get them taken down a few degrees.

Alec, don't listen to me as I know nothing, in fact it was a wild guess until BobMac turns up.
Hey, everyone on here knows more than me so happy for any advice ;)

got them taken down to .75 upright and it's a lot better, now only if I could get the hang of them  cheers for the input.
