Our pro left the blue dot 7 iron demo with the dynamic gold S300 down at the range today.
So I hit a few balls with it, don't worry he is okay with stuff like this as he knows it generates a bit of business.
I watched the Radar and Miguel video and Miguel had said they were lovely but hit them in the wrong place and they let you know.
But seriously they are lovely, they are pretty strong as well. Length of face is small but these are blades, thing is you don't feel intimidated by them they are Pings.
I would say they have a nicer feel than the I500 but they are not quite like the Mizuno - but seriously they are well worth a look at if you want a blade.
I think with the smaller heads like this you concentrate more and striking improves .. I hit one shot a bit thin and the distance loss was about 5-7 yards. It did not give me the vibration up the grip it was quite well damped out.

something came up on my FB from one of the Golf Bloggers, raving how good they were. Look OK, unusual for ping to do a forged club..

Mmmmmmmm.....................

Very pretty but blades for the average hacker on here, err......sounds like a great idea :ROFLMAO:

When lots of the top players in the world don't use blades makes you wonder why inferior players think they will suit them.

That’s very true, and I don’t think I would carry these in a 4 iron ... the 5 and 6 iron would be a challenge as well. But I don’t think you can blend ping irons 🙁

It's not just about what suits you and what you can hit consistently though.
There's also the enjoyment to be had from playing clubs you really like, even if you do hit a few stinkers in a round.

We are all different I guess, me I want to play my best all the time and playing a club that isn't best suited to my game isn't going to make me do that.

It does seem that iron prices are exorbitant!
I was practicing my little 7 iron chips around the green.
Pro walks up with said iron in hand ,put it on the ground and said” don’t look what it is just hit a few”
Holed the first two the next three were inches away.
“Only £170 per club “ was his parting shot.

Evil bar steward!
So you like the feel round the green then?

At £170 per club I might just buy a 7 iron if it holes everything.
4/pw is almost £1200 that’s a bit silly now .
If they get to about £800 I would be tempted , just going for a look on eBay.

I know where there's a set of great condition Mizuno Pro MS-3 blades (regular Dynaflex 2200 shafts) going for £120 delivered if you're interested.
(That's a tenth of the price of the Pings with one more club..... )

Those are lovely, I have a set of pristine TP18s.
But what I have learned so far is, the blades of today especially the offerings from Mizuno and Ping are miles more forgiving than the blades of 10 years or more ago.
I think, and forgive me as this my opinion that more people can play blades. I am sure that a big iron sat by the ball is confidence inspiring and allows you to swing out your boots and claim PW of 150 yards is very attractive. But when you can give the ball some shape, bend it and flight it .. now that is a mega buzz.
I had a 130 yards to green, shoved myself under a tree and the green bending to the left. Little half swing back of the stance draw with a 6 iron .. very pleasing. Went and practiced the driver as it put me in there 🙄

That bit there is why I think that in spite of all their forgiveness, modern clubs encourage a worse swing. Players go all out at the ball and get lazy, relying on the club's forgiveness to help them out so over time the quality of their strike goes down.

I suspect that’s true...but I also suspect a lot of new players (like me) have, or had, no idea that some clubs are supposed to be scary.

I‘ve only come to know this because of seeing YouTube videos of PGA pros doing “Can a mid handicapper hit blades” videos, where they talk about a thick top line and a big club head being “comforting”, and blades being intimidating.

Without having seen someone say that, it would never have occurred to me to feel any differently based on the appearance of the club.
