I reckon he'll be all right. I know it's Smiffy but I really think these could be the "ones" and fancy he'll do well at least while the batteries in them are charged. Give it a month and I might be reconsidering
 
I've gone for Burner 09s. Tried about 10 different sets and they were by far the best results. My swing speed was only around 90-94 so i've gone back to regular shafts.

I used one of the guys out at Kinsealy Grange. Found him really good.

Had a great time up at Mizuno's fitting centre yesterday afternoon. Very constructive and although I wasn't hitting the ball very well (I hate range mats!!) some interesting things came out of it and I now know what my choice of clubs will be.
I tried both sets again (MP52's and MX200's) and as I suspected, the figures I got off the 200 were better. I certainly strike those a lot cleaner. Also it was discovered that my current graphite shafts were imparting an awful lot of back and side spin on the ball which was calmed down significantly by going back to steel. We settled on the Nippon NS Pro 950 GH regular shaft which was shown to give me 10 yards more carry over the 6 iron I am playing at the moment with a lot less spin and this was at a swingspeed of 4mph LESS! It was also decided that I need my irons 1 degree flat, because as I suspected I was making contact with the strike board nearer the heel of the club.
So that's what I am going for 4-PW with the addition of the matching 50 and 55 degree wedges.
I have emailed an online Mizzy retailer who promised to do the best deal to see how much it is going to cost me, and once I have heard back will give my club pro the chance to either price match or come close. If he is up to £50.00 dearer I will buy from him, but if it's much more than that then I will order them off the 'net.
As I say, a very good day out and I would recommend going to them and it is totally free, and I got a nice couple of freebies too!!

2 over gross on the back 9 until we got to the bloody 18th. Lovely drive over the top of the marker post, thought it was perfect but the wind, and lie of the land, took the ball just over the OOB fence. Not having played the course before I didn't really know how far out to the left I had to hit it and you couldn't see the fairway such was the drop over the brow of the hill. Simple par 5 (SI18) and if my ball had been in play I would have only been knocking a 7 or 8 iron down towards the green, definite par, maybe even a birdie chance so it was a shame. I'll know next time
 
A blind tee shot to a sloping fairway, Par 5 downhill 18th hole and a blob........sounds like something a really good player could do if he hadn't played the course before. ;)
 
As much as I would like to take the p*ss, Smiffy actually played the best I've seen him play.

To be fair his whole game was fairly solid, his driving put him in good positions and when that didn't work then he hit some good recoveries. A really nice 6-iron from 180+yds was the highlight of the round as it ran out to 3 feet from the pin for a birdie, a couple of other nice shots of note in there too.

...as soon as he can fix his alignment he'll start hitting the ball more solidly instead of that 'cutty-across-it' crap! :)

Was it only 180+ yards James? I had that down for at least 215.... :D :D :D
And my alignment is something I've definitely got to work on. I know when it's not right and I should walk away and set up to it again.

I love them Martin. First time I picked one up was a couple of weeks ago in a pro shop. Put one down on the deck and my initial thought was "I could muller this".
That feeling was reinforced last week when I saw them again in the pro shop at Highwoods, and I pulled the trigger there and then. Hadn't even hit one!
I duffed an 8 iron off the tee but didn't feel right in my set up...somebody had taken a massive divot out of the teeing area and replaced it, it was right behind my ball. Didn't see it at first when I pegged up. I should have moved away from it but carried on....
Later in the round I really put an awful swing on a 4 iron in a very strong crosswind at a par 3. None of us hit the green, all missing to the left. But that was me, not the club. But the rest of my iron play was good. Nice wedge shots, some lovely mid irons, capped by the 6 iron shot that James mentioned above. I love the shafts in these ones. I was torn between regular and soft regular but having a swish in the pro shop with the regular shafts convinced me that they were slightly softer than my Mizuno's Nippons which is exactly what I was after. Standard everything... sod custom fitting
