Pet owners

My neighbours wee girl opened her garden gate and their big lab escape tonight.
I said I would go out in the pouring rain and try to find him. Black Lab in the pitch black....some chance!

After an hour I gave up and was walking back when there was a wet nose at my hand.
Neighbours were so pleased that I had found him when in truth it was he who found me.

A few months ago my wife asked me to let the dog in, I opened the kitchen door, gave him a biscuit and watched him lap up his water and lie down on his bed. I thought he was starting to put weight on. As I walked into the lounge I passed our dog stretched out in his normal spot.

Our neighbours dog had got out and another neighbour, thinking it was our dog had put him in our garden.

This fella will get some prawns but he gets some every week anyway so I'm not sure he'll know it's Christmas day.

Sorry to hear about your cat Murph.

If he has prawns on a regular basis, then give him a large sheet of Nori for Christmas, he is a veggie after all.

My dogs always get stockings it only started because my daughter thought santa should go to dogs too but they still get them now she doesnt believe in santa.

He gets Nori, pellets, mysis, marine grazer and various other frozen foods as well.

Spent too much money and time to be a cheapskate on their diets.

Plus that are amazing to watch!

amazing to watch, you should watch siamese fighting fish mating- the male wraps arround the female squeezes her then catches the eggs and blows them into a bubble nest, then the female tries to kill him. as they do

Tomorrow is the day sadly. He has gone down hill rapidly this weekend, which, while it comes as no surprise is still a bit sticky. Not looking forward to tomorrow. End of twelve years. You can get quite attached in that time. Bugger. (sorry mods, but it is the way I feel).

Horrible situation mate,at least your doing what you feel is best for Murph.
Keep your chin up.

when our 15yr old dog[ my wife's baby] passed away 7 years ago. at the time she would have much preferred that it would have been me who passed . but after 2 years of us in an empty and mostly silent house as we used to talk to each other through the dog' we were lucky to meet our new dog, the same breed but completely different personallity. now we talk again . its a sad sad time for you but there is hope. and you are doing the right thing . be strong

Hard times.
I lost three dogs within a year because they'd had enough. It was pretty devastating but it is the last great kindness you can show them, to ease their suffering.
Thinking of you and your furry friend.
:(

We had a stray black cat adopt us when we first moved into our house over 25 years ago. Lived with us for 15 years, and it was heartbreaking to have to have it put to sleep, especially for my daughter who was only eight at the time. Fast forward ten years and another almost identical black cat has adopted us, even though we vowed not to have another pet it seems to be a permanent fixture. It even jumps up at the back door handle and let itself in the cheeky chap. Not clever enough to close the door after itself though.

Sorry to hear about Murph Chris.

Thoughts with you Chris...

My Ava is getting spoiled rotten this year

Are going to replace him Chris?

Replace isn't quite the word I'd use, but yes, I am under instructions to get a new pair some time soon. Two? Madness! Trouble is, Im looking for character, which murph had, in spades, so it won't be easy. My previous mog was just an amazing character, and murph was even more so. So many cats just want food, and a roof, but murph was different. He was always a people cat. Chasing a lap, or a bit of attention, all the time. Never went far from home, in case I came back and he wasn't here.

The search for a new apprentice starts Sunday.

Our oldest dog is declining fast and will be 14 in February but not sure she will make it. The younger One will be lost without her as she's always been there so to speak. Sad times my eldest daughter will be distraught as I've already had to start explaining that she may have to go on the one way visit to the vet soon and broke down in fits of tears. Hope you can fill the void murph.
