Pet hates on the course that other golfer's do ?

Players not replacing divots, filling in divots on tee boxes and not repairing pitch marks. Is some golf fairy going to do it after you move on? You pay a not insignificant amount for your fees each year so have a bit of pride in the course

I must admit I hate this as well. I played with a guy at St Andrews who on the 1'st tee claimed he could drive 300+ yards. He tee's the ball up and skys it and it goes 100 yards if that. On the first par 3 which was about 170 yards he pulls out a 8 iron. I had a 6 in my hand. I managed to land on the front of the green about 10 feet from the flag. He meanwhile was 4 shots to the green and then 5 puts. :)

I can hit 300yrd drives but hit the occasional skyrocket... I'm happy to pull out an 8-iron on a 170yrd par 3 and might still duff it...

BUT....

frankly I couldn't care less what club you have in your hand as I play my OWN game, and if you have a 3-iron or a wedge it's of no consequence to me  You could hit a lob wedge or driver on the par 3 and make the birdie putt for all I care... I'm still going to pull the club that I want to hit. Why should you judge what club he hits? Did you knock it round in level par?

Plenty of things that annoy me on the course, but the only things that frustrate me are the stupid mistakes that I make. People being stupid happens everywhere, all the time. I'd probably end up like Herbert Lom in the Pink Panther films if I let it bother me. Just smile, turn to your playing partners, and talk about something fun... Like the FA Cup perhaps!!!!

I s'pose this is bad then....?

:mad::mad::mad:

[NB: this vid isn't slow motion, I really play that slowly just to irritate the easily irritated]

Did you head straight out after finnishing your shift on the bin wagon, you could have at least changed?;)

sadly not. I was 10 over, I had been given a 24 handicap as I did not have one yet.

i know it does not matter how he plays, but he was god awful. I think he was in triple figures

Club captains and Cat 1 golfers who think the course is just for them.

Everybody had to start sometime, so what if they 150 shots and takes 5 hrs per round, just play through and get on with it.

People that want to rush round in 2 1/2 hours and if anyone gets in their way they moan about slow play. If you're that desperate to get off the course then just go straight to the bar (or more likely the car park)

2 1/2 hours is not rushing! If I'm out on my own and get a clear run, then 2:15 is easily achievable and that includes messing around with (missed) puts. Anything over 3 hours is a pain IMHO.

As has been already mentioned, what gets me is people leaving their bag at the other side of the green, marking and re-marking balls, filling in scorecards on the green, cosy chats with groups heading in the opposite way etc.

The worst of all though is not letting people play through!

I work like a dog 6 days a week, I sit in traffic on the way to work, I get kept up all night by my baby, my misses works nights so I'm stuck in all evening.

So in all fairness when I go to the course I do it for pure fun and a release from the daily grind and the filth of work and traffic jams.
I'm sure most of you also have a crappy week like myself but some of you seem to have forgotten your on the course for yourself not because your being forced to. Just chill out and enjoy the moment and ignore the things you hate.

People who dress loudly when they're crap at golf. If your gonna draw attention to yourself then you better be good. Also, waiting FOREVER for a green to clear

Think mine have all been mentioned.

People who take an age to clear the green after putting out, especially when they've also taken an age to play the hole
People who stand too close to you when you are playing a shot, especially if it's an awkward little chip or pitch and
People who don't rake bunkers (was in a bunker on Sunday with huge size 12 footprints in it, right next to the rake - )

You don't have to look

Why don't you try playing golf instead of giving out gok wan style sartorial advice

The club clatterer! By that I mean the guy who can bounce his bag off his back and make all his irons clatter whilst walking. That winds me up no end. Also the people who must mark their card on the green when were waiting for it to clear.

Also about 3 weeks ago a guy in the group ahead decided to dismantle his trolley about 4yards behind the 18th green, it took him about 3mins so we had to wait for him to do that!!! Couldn't believe it.

The only thing that annoys me is slow play. Anything over 4 hours at our place is too long, and is very frustrating.

Amazed at how many have said what people wear or what equipment people have annoys them. WHY?
