Pet hates on the course that other golfer's do ?

As Agreed with a previous poster.

People driving off the tee box when the group in front is still within mame range.

On Saturday I was playing in a comp. 3 lots of 4 all went out one behind each other. On our 4th hole the wind is behind you, everyone hit good drives of the whites. I caught mine a peach (about 250-260) the 3 others played and I was the last to hit. Just before I pulled my wedge out my bag I checked my yardage one last time and setup. Just as I was on my backswing I heard a little dink from behind. A group of 3 young lads (now I am only 30) had decided to tee off. I know that where I was standing was with the mame range. No shout off 4 and there ball trickled just about 5 feet from me.

We all then got to the green. I was last to put for a Par (4) and this other ball appears on the green. I ended up missing the put and taking a 5. I would have maybe gotten a 3 if I had not been put off by there tee shot and then shot into the green.

I then confronted them when they got to the green. There response was "oh we did not see you" given the fact I was wearing my orange puma jumper I find this hard. I then gave them a propper telling off cause I was mad.

anyway rant over

Mike

People who dress like Rickey Fowler.....

People standing right behind my ball line when I tee off. Why do you need to? I can watch my own ball thank you and with you moving around in my eye-line it's not likely to go that far anyway!

Other than that am pretty laid back :mmm:

I'm pretty chilled on the course these days. Used to get angry at myself and others but one day it twigged, this is my leisure time. I said to myself " If you're not enjoying it, stop doing it."
I'm much more able to relax and let things go now.

The only thing that bugs me a bit is people not clearing the green quickly when you are waiting to hit. By all means take time over your putt, but when you're done get a shift on.

Even that doesn't bother me too much.

Played with some really slow guys the other day, I'm not like some of the jack rabbits on here but pretty quick usually, it took over 5hours round our quite short track (we let lots of faster players through), but they were good company and just out having fun same as I was.
Life is too short to get wound up about this stuff.

Even if you duff it, just walk up and hit it again. Doesn't take long unless you fart about with clubs, take 5 minutes to decide what club to duff next. Tee time overcrowding is something I've never experienced in my life. You book your time and turn up. If its run properly it flows like clockwork. Its the people who don't allow faster groups through that cause the log jams and frustration. Lost balls, always hit a provisional and be prepared to play when its your turn. Easy.I always enjoy the game and apart from once my last few rounds have all been under 3 hours.
That sort of pressure actually makes people take longer because they rush their shot and duff it. Why can't people play at their pace and enjoy the game. I would agree that any longer than 4 hours is taking the @@@@. But at my place at the weekend that is what you have to expect so it does not bother me. I just go out with my mates have some good banter while having to wait to play shots.

There are guys at our place that seem to think to whole key to round is how fast they can get round get in the car park chuck the bag in the boot and clear off. I asked one gent if he had a good round, his reply was smashing thanks 3 of got round in 2 3/4 hours and I was back home for 3pm-they teed off at 12pm, I then asked him about the actual round itself and he struggled to remember anything about it. Their only concern was getting round as fast as possible then sod off back home. Not for i'm afraid could not play a round with those type cannot see an enjoyment whatsoever in that.

The group in front faffing about in clearing away from the greens after finishing putting out.
Player of own group standing at the back of the tee looking down my line while I am teeing off
Loud yacking from players on adjacent hole
And a current bugbear - smokers chucking their fag ends on the ground - since when were fag ends not litter?

On the speed of play. Played three rounds of foursomes on Saturday. 2hr50min, 3'0", 3'10" - the last took longest as we were getting tired and the weather was rubbish. Now play a foursomes round my place at that pace and some folk in front will complain that you are pressurising them and get all huffy Nope - we are just playing foursomes properly - non-striker walking ahead. It was great.

How is that pressure?

Its common sense. I was taught when I started golf the basic rules plus always be ready to play when its your turn. Its such a simple concept. I concede that medal rounds will take longer for things such as rulings, marking putts so as not to stand on your partners line, etc but again they should never take more than four hours. People watch professionals on TV stalking putts from all angles and copy it. They watch pro's toss bits of grass in the air despite knowing the wind is off the right shoulder as it has been all day.

Being ready to play and not standing talking or debating with yourself what club to hit is easy. Hardly pressure.

**EDIT**

Well in my opinion!

Hmmm. I must be in the minority who actually WANT my playing partners to stand (at a decent distance) behind me when I'm teeing off. Best place to be able to follow where the ball goes.

What does hack me off is when I hit something a bit wayward and turn to find my partners all looking the other way saying 'oh sorry, didn't quite catch where it went, better hit another.....'

You know what makes me sick... People who cry and cry about other peoples actions on the golf course. You are a bunch of babies! so much hate and negativity that we get to two pages in less than a day. Have you people really got nothing better to talk about. This post must have been done 10 times in my time on the forum and still you fill lines of text with hate and bad feeling.

No need to contribute but in essence I agree with the repeat after repeat after repeat!

Some interesting points of view on display here..

My bug bear is when you play with the guy who thinks he is Tiger Woods! Laser range finder out on everyshot making him look like captain pugwash searching for some land ahoy! Gets the yardage of 240Yards to carry the trees on our 3rd hole to cut the corner, takes out driver makes a swing reminiscent of a baboon strangling a rattle snake and leaves it 40yards short of the trees he was trying to carry.... then what happens, out comes the range finder so Pugwash can go through his ritual again for distance to the pin, lines up his shot decides waht is a needed is a 160yard 9 iron with a 40yard fade to the back right corner of the green to go over and around the trees, steps up giving it the baboon death swing and hits it straight left into the Bundu so the process can start all over again!

Don't get me wrong i'm all for GPS as it is a valid aid but use it in accordance with your actual ability not that of the worlds top players. So I guess my bug bear is people trying to play like the pro's! and taking 6 days a round to do it.

My other one is people who are absolutely regimental about the rules but hear me out on this. The rules are the rules and we must all play within them I 100% agree on this fact BUT..... What I can't stand is the guys that are anal about every single ruling that is likely in your 4 ball with the exception of the ones that apply to them! I like to call these people the rules Gestapo because if you have to look for your ball their watch comes out and they make sure they are there when(if) you find it to see you identify the ball,or alternatively they tap the watch thats it you've had your 5 minutes walk on or its the firing squad! Switch that round they have their 5 minutes so you all go ok thats time and walk away but there they are still hunting 10 mins later when your all on the green waiting for them! If only Herr Flick would obide by the rules he so imposes upon you to do so...

People love to vent, as you've just proved :)

I get the sentiment of this, but then what would a forum be without people replying to threads.

Theres always going to be an element of repeated debate, but there are also many good threads out there as well.

Yep, my bad, I have been arguing with my wife for a solid 4 hrs now and just happened upon this post. I was clearly not in the right frame of mind to be posting. However I do mean what I said, I just maybe should not have said it....
