Peoples Open

It is a gamble...£47.50 to possibly play 1 round on a mediocre track I can actually play for £12 or get to play the Castle and Old for that price.....I'll pass seeing as I'm playing my regional qualifier at least once for nowt and The Old for the same price this season.

Furthest one daarn saarf is Wokefield park near Reading or Botley Park, Southampton. I know David Dryer the tournament organiser and he says that he's secured the finals for the next 5 years to be at The Open venues a month after them. Most regional qualifiers are at DeVere or Macdonald venues. For £47.50 its still worth a punt and a lot cheaper than The Trilby tour at £250 a head. :D ;)

Wokefield is an ok course. Great when they let the rough grow in high summer but an absolute bog at this time of year and then the ground cracks in summer (clay soil). £47.50 is only about £10 more than high summer green fee so not a bad deal but I wouldn't play in the event. It seems tailormade for some real bandits to come out of the woodwork

Well they have to be congu certificated so hopefully that will control the bandits. 6 out of 60 qualify from each regional event. Plenty of other course to play at like Wychwood Park and Carden Park. Unless you fancy a better place to play like The Carrick or Slaley Hall.
