Pedro rode into town

Whoa......I thought the world must have ended or something.

Phew, I can go up the apple and pears without fear. The world will be around tomorrow.

The only Mexican I shall give any thought to now is Lorena, not for her looks but for her swing. :)

Buenas noches

I do find it hard to fathom why he would need shots on the par 3's when he can normally hit a 7-iron to any that are shorter than 200yds, so that in itself would put him off 14

Trouble is, he thinks he can get there with a wedge.

Conditions were tough...we were off the whites and it was blowing quite a lot.

At no point during the round did I ever consider the notion that HTL was a bandit. Yes he played some exquisite golf shots, easily worthy of a low single handicapper, but he also had his fair share of bloopers and only beat his handicap on the day by 1.

17 h/cappers aren't really supposed to shoot 1 under their h/cap off the whites in tough conditions (with some bloopers thrown in).... are they?

You are simply adding to the fire there! ;) ;)

Smiffy's going to be pulling the last pieces of his hair out! ;) ;)

Heres my take on it.

44 points in a 4bbb is hardly earth shattering is it ? would usually only get you a top 5 / 10 at most clubs. Won ours last year with 49 pts so dont see what all the fuss is about tbh

One of you has to have a good day and the other chips in here and there , to go big then both of you need to be firing on all cylinders

If HTL cleans up in bounce games regularly so what ? He's your mate and as long as he buys the beers with the winnings then get on with it.

His h/c will fall sooner or later its just a matter of him relaxing a little more with a card in his hand , we all get uptight in comps and tighten up occasionally.

Yep, that's about it, I don't know what all the fuss is about! Seems like Smiffy just wants to pick on Homer all the time........ I'm telling teacher!

I have to say Homer, it was a rather silly way to title your post. How else did you think it was going to turn out? Although I can understand your position with HTL and the banter etc but it was fuel for the fire that is the GM forum.

I completely sympathise with HTL's position having had the same thing happen to me. I have cleaned up at a forum meet (MIDYORKS) and I did feel slightly embarresed taking the spoils but what can you do? your H/C is your H/C. Anyone who knows me or HTL knows we only play to get the H/C as low as possible, thats the real goal. Someone has to be the aggreived when we occasionally do have the good day in the medal! Its a natural course of improvement.

Well done for the comp both of you

up .3

Played in two qualifiers, both have been very poor!

Played in team comps, betterballs, etc and seem to play reasonably well. I even won my first comp, a stableford but didn't get a cut. That was dissapointing!

Just cant put the medal round together!

First of all i would like to congratulate HTL on a fine round of golf, and in no way would i consider him a bandit.Unfortunatly he wasnt helped by his partners post and calling his h/c a joke then saying he never said that only later addmiting he did say that.

But, and heres the problem if HTL played in a open comp. where he wasnt known and played to a 13 h/c as hes surely going to do one day going by the comments so far,he would get people calling him a bandit.

So i think we are sometimes to quick to call someone a bandit,as we are all capable sometimes of having a great round.

Which brings us round nicely to the ultimate question.

Should your handicap be based on your average play, or based on the best round you have ever scored.

Answers on a postcard please ...

Only took an hour to read this post...
Very interesting points and topics talked about. Firstly well done to HTL for his great round of golf. We all aspire to shoot great rounds of golf, so maybe we should congratulate HTL for his achievements.
I've only been on this forum 2 minutes and have never had the pleasure of meeting everyone just yet on a GM golf day, so I'll not comment anymore on any other points that have been made. :)

Well done again HTL and wish my golf was showing promise like yours. I played well at the start of the season warranting an 8 handicap (2x excellent rounds with my lowest ever score of 7 over included). Now I have no confidence nor talent to shoot near it at the moment. To be fair an 11-12 would probably be more accurate a handicap but right now I'm lucky if I get 25 points off 8. Nothing a few competitions won't level out.
