popped down to ASDA for some groceries today. Some flipping berk was trying to reverse park and took 5 goes to get his Audi backed into the space. He looked well pleased when he had finished up after 2 minutes of idiocy.

WHY THE HELL DO PEOPLE REVERSE PARK???

AAAAAAARRRGHHHH

:sbox:

Officially it's safer to back in, makes it safer to pull out - your eyes are nearer the business end.
It's a manoevre that we have to teach for the driving test.
The reality is that if you do reverse in, you can't get to your boot....

I always reverse park Ron... I don't take two minutes to do it though, I don't generally even take two attempts. Been driving my car long enough to know it's dimensions and where I should position it to get back in the space in a one.
I hate having to reverse out of car park spaces where you can't see the berks tearing along the lanes so driving forward from the space feels safer to me.
I feel ashamed of myself now after your rant...

I was reversing into a tight space outside Argos in Grantham a while ago and I had an audience.
One guy was stood watching me shaking his head in that 'you'll never get that in there' look.
What he didn't know was I was watching the gap between my car and the other one in the shop window so was able to judge it to the inch.
When I straightened up, and got out of the car, he just sort of nodded to himself and walked away. I was hoping for at least a ripple of applause.:(

People who park forwards are morons.

Reverse parking is by far the most efficient in terms of maneuvering, and you can drive straight out. Win, win.

If you can do it.

Who needs the boot? it's full of clubs.

Shopping on the back seat, dog in the front, Mizuno's (Callaways) in the boot covered by the sneaky tonneau cover. Wife and Kids on the roof rack. :(

Did you use your Park-Easy?

On the plus side I thought this was going to be an idiot using a disabled or parent and baby space when clearly they aren't on both counts. That really does get me annoyed and I have been know to lose it and tell these fools just how ignorant they are

I always park front end first so I can get into the boot, but actually find it easier to reverse park.

I always use different car through work so the bonnets are all different shapes and sizes so can never be 100% confident in my corners whereas I can always trust my wing mirrors and looking out of the back window for distance

People around are way, just can't park full stop. Came out of Tesco to find the drivers door badly dented. Not an area covered by the CCTV either.

Going into 'Parent' mode and acting like a 'Baby'?

I can't stand the prats that abuse the disabled spaces though.

As for it being safer reversing into a park. Well maybe statistically, but not in my case. I've had more accidents going backwards than forwards! Or maybe that proves it and it's safer for other people! If I've just come from supermarket shopping, my least consideration is other people!

I often go to the cash point outside our local Tesco on the way to work. The store opens at 8, and I zip through about 7.15. There are no reasons to park here except to go to the store.

Ever wondered why the only spaces available in the car park are miles from the store?

So, 7.15 in the morning, the 40 odd car parking spaces nearest the store are full. I can only guess that the staff all park nearest to the store. So the customers, who pay the wages etc, have to park miles from the store, regardless of age, health etc, and then push trolleys full of food through the entire length of the car park, in the cold and wet. Surely it would be nice if the management assigned the staff parking furthest from the store, so the customers get priority?

Reverse parking is easier and the safest way (profesional driver). Also at our depot it is mandatory to reverse park, 2 choices you reverse into a space less chance of an accident, you reverse out of a space into the road more chance of an accident.

One of my friends was brave enough to question a 20 stone 30 year old parking in a mother and child spot.
He pointed to his 20 stone elder female passenger and said 'She's my mother, I'm her child'
