Anyone know if painting pre-painted doors ever works out, or do I just need to scrub them with something like sugar soap?

Painting a room in our extension and the doors are a bit grubby and will look worse when I do the other paintwork.

I assume they're just the cheapish type of painted white door you'll get in B&Q as we never specced them when we got our extension done. The builder just installed them. They have quite a nice grain on them and I don't want to ruin it by painting it with eggshell if it'll look rubbish.

Cheers.

If they are pre painted, then you really need to paint them up so they don’t look shabby compared to the rest of the room.

Just a light sand going with the grain, 2 coats, jobs a goodun.

You can sugar soap them and see how they look

If the doors are plain wood then you have varnish/ oil options

Done loads, take all the door furniture off first and tape over the hinge metalwork ?

Cheers. Think I'll just paint them then. I always take the furniture off as I end up getting paint all over it, even when it's properly taped ?.
