Im playing golf regular now and each time i play i get so much pain in joints ect.
The pain is just about barable but just hurts each time
I love playing golf i cant see myself not playing
What would you do?
Keep playing and just take the pain and recover later and then go again
Or stop playing sort yourself out, might be a for a few weeks, months. but stop playing until your much better

Difficult to advise but as a former front row rugby player I subscribe to the 'if it don't hurt you ain't doing it right' school. It might be prudent to have a word with your doc and/or ease off for a short while to see if matters improve.

Deep heat and take some joint pills, the ones designed specifically for sport are a little OTT and overpriced.

My advice would be check the ingredients and find own brand ones that match.

I used to have a very athletic swing, took 7 months out of the game and on my return swinging the same way left me waking up with a painful back!

Since my ankle and knee problems from 2000 - 2005 it always hurst when I play.
Mind you it often hurts no matter what I do.
And always will.

So I just get on with it until I do something that "really" hurts then I stop.

Having a fairly high pain threshold helps a little...

As one struggling with a constant bad back but with Woburn and the season approaching its a case of no pain no gain at the moment. I'm just taking some anti-inflammatories when it becomes very sore, and I'm sure there will be a time when I'll need the doc to refer me and get to the bottom of the cause. However while I can still play and practice I don't want to do anything yet and potentially write off the whole summer. Maybe in the Autumn I'll have a rethink.

I'm with Imurg on this one. I too have knee problems that give me problems pretty much all the time. But if it gets really bad then I stop and let it die down.
Pain is your body's way of telling you there is a problem. If you have no injuries or past problems that could be the cause then I, personally, do not advise continuing unchecked.
I ended up with a ruptured cruciate ligament (ACL, MCL and PCL) playing football after ignoring some twinges the week before. It's up to you but I say, what's 7 or 8 weeks out of the game compared to the possibility of years or never being able to play again?

Pain is easier to manage than stop.

Regular anti inflammatories to reduce the inflammation in the first place should be your first step.

It might help, might not. I wear a Trion:Z bracelet (joints) and a Phiten necklace (muscles) if they actually work, now there's another thing. But I can say, my knees are shot to pieces from Motocross, as well as my right shoulder and left wrist. I dont have that constant dul pain I used to have most of the day and the continual clicking of my joints seems to have gone.

Better than necking pills all day long :smirk:

It's the cramp in both ankles and legs the night of the round that is the bummer for me.

Suffered from cramp alot when I played Football, our Dietician gave me a simple tip which worked wonders for me.

Before exercise drink a body fuel - e.g Lucozade sport.
After exercise drink an isotonic drink - e.g powerade.

Used to buy both and followed it for every training and game and it seemed to work.

Re OP and bad joints - she recommended adding Extra Virgin Olive oil to your diet is an easy way to combat aching joints. This is used by alot of arthritis sufferers. I know of a few old hands on our football team that used this and raved about it.

I just live with the pains, anti inflammatories for back and legs and hot shower for neck and shoulders. It is reassuring that I am not the only one.

I'm another one who ignored a niggling pain (training for a marathon) for weeks. Ended up doing my ACL a few miles into the marathon, couldn't do any exercise for almost a year after that. I recommend getting it checked out and following whatever advice you're given.

I play through pain... I have to, else I'd have to give up.

I'd certainly advise going to get checked out though to see if it's 'fixable'.

Are you in pain when you're NOT playing golf? Do you warm up properly... etc etc

Reconstituted Snake Oil!

See your Doctor to check it's not something serious. Otherwise anti-inflams as required. It's just possible that more Golf could help!

just try and manage it the best you can, like use a trolley if you don't already, stick to the paths stop you walking on uneven ground, comfy shoes, plenty baths etc. wont do any harm to see a doc or physio
