I had a typical (well for people who grew up around me) 1970's working class upbringing. Where we never went anywhere and now the kids have grown and left home the wife and I have time to start exploring this beautiful country of ours. We have just returned from our second weekend away in the Lake District. We have been to Keswick and this time to the lovely town of Ambleside on Windemere.
I'm really looking forward to more countryside walking and seeing even more of our countryside in the coming years.
How would you like to wake up to see a deer in your garden in the morning?

On the road to Grasmere, no wonder Wordsworth was so inspired

This is what I wake up to every morning

You cant beat a Glasgow slum upbringing. Character building.

Though it sounds nice waking up to deer in you back garden, the Reality is the buggers eat all your flowers;)

But there is the benifit of Venison though.

Mountains and Deer I can live with....men with blue painted faces showing their *rses and shouting 'see you Jimmy' I'm not sure I could cope with that!

*Sigh*

View number 3 is almost the view I woke up to for 3 years... admittedly not viewed from the middle of the lake but a bit farther back. We get back there several times a year... Autumn is the best time coz parents don't take their kids out of school in the autumn term. Its the quietest time of the year....

Oh well, back to the grind

My garden backs onto a path by the river tyne. There's also quite a bit of woodland too.

The simplistic pleasure of walking the dogs on a warm spring morning whilst seeing foxes and rabbit etc. is never underestimated

Offsets the stress caused by hooked drives :swing:
