Hi, looking to get a new jacket and I can't decide. Looking at either the GG Astor or the GG Almer. The Astor is higher spec but I'm not sure if it will be a bit "heavy"? it's mesh lined and not sure how suitable for warmer weather.Price difference is minor so I guess it comes down to functionality.

Anyone else looked at them and bought one of them?

Got the Astor. Great jacket. You're in east Yorks so not the warm south. Go for the Astor, and maybe a cheap quarter zip top for summer.

The Atos is £20 more than the Astor (from online golf) and is well worth it when your spending that amount! Love mine!

I have the Atwell and find it great. Out yesterday and it was blowing a gale and temp in car showed 4 degrees parked in shelter without the wind chill factor added in and I had a long sleeve t shirt and Atwell jacket on and was well warm apart from my face. Jacket isn't heavy and easily able to swing in it.

Also most of the GG jackets have a "stretchy" panel between the shoulder blades so the jacket will give a little.

Atwell Jacket is good in warmer weather from my experiences.

I have a GG Argo - very disappointed in it. As I mentioned in an old thread, always wet when I wore it - soaked through. GG blamed the water over the shoulders and down the arms on three small snags in the lower back - which were classed as damage not faulty workmanship - hence not replaceable under warranty - I'd only worn it 4 or 5 times........ Despite some heavy conversations, GG, refused to give on their stance, so having spent £150 odd quid on a top range waterproof, I was forced to buy another one to keep me dry. I replaced mine with a Sunderland Waterproof top, which I have been very happy with.

No need to open old wounds on this, have moved on with Sunderland, but thought it fair to add a disgruntled GG customer to balance out the many top reviews you'll get.
