Open week 2018

Pencil me in too - should be able to play but depends if I have family with us blagging free accommodation for the Open...

Jim, get you round there any time. You remember bumble ?? He's apparently renting his house out, stay about 100 yards from the first tee, just over the railway.

Yeah, likewise, let's sort out a day when the weather's improving. Some good money to be made from letting houses out, good luck to him. :)

Jeezo, A round with Allis with Jack Newton have played there since then.

They started demolishing those multis in 93 :whoo:

Just watched a Rising View drone fly through of Downfield, there seem to be a lot more trees than I remember. It very mature and looks a pleasant course. They also have a fly through of Bulumbie GC over by the Tyre factory by Kellas.

You did say it was 35ish years ago you were last there, trees tend to grow a fair bit in 35 years

I never got on with Balumbie, some absolute rubbish holes on that course.

Balumbie is to stretched out crossing over roads etc,Downfield has had changes for the good played it in the summer and it was in fantastic condition

I joined in September and had a couple of games before the seasons turned and I was sold on it right away. I've played in numerous times in the past and never thought the greens were that great but that wasn't the case then.

The greens staff have been complimented considerably from my understanding in the past year or so, I may find out more as I "may" be the new greens convener for next season.

I am currently pulling my hair out given how the weather has been for pretty much the past two months as we've been on winter green since mid November, which is just how it goes but apparently they were only on them 3 times last winter.
