Open rota

Funny how the previous owners of Turnberry were considering dropping the Open for an annual EPGA event.
Rumoured to be the European Open. The R&A blocked it and they decided to sell instead.

BTW the EPGA events are shown around the world nowadays.

EPGA ? I'm guessing you mean ET ?

The Scottish is a normal tour event

The Open is the biggest golf event every year

It's like comparing the Johnsons Paint Trophy to the CL

Oh dear...open your eyes.

I am not questioning the difference between the Scottish Open/European Open to The Open.

What I am saying is that if one happens 15 times in a 15 year period it may be more valuable to the owner than one that happen ONCE in a 15 year period.

I hope that is clear enough for you.

You were going on about prestige etc so yes you were comparing and suggesting there would be more prestige holding the Scottish Open

Have a read back - it's quite clear

The prestige of having your course talked about once a year rather than once every 15 years.
Think.......... Wentworth.......... European Tour Championship....it may help.

They will bring in much more cash than a once every 14 year event but still carry the prestige.

The last time I saw anything turning this fast it was my Spaniel puppy chasing his tail.. I'm no longer convinced that you're a regular reader of WOS. I'm beginning to think you're the main features writer...

Nope still not working - more prestige talking about a course hosting The Open

Wentworth hosts the flagship event

Please explain. [without your political bias if you can, it is getting very tiresome and contributing nothing to the thread.]
If it is the 14/15 year difference, well nobody knows for sure, but a pretty petty thing to pick up on.

Lol. Political bias? On a thread about Open rota courses? You really are delusional now aren't you?
I'll make it simple for you. Which has more Prestige? The Open or The Scottish Open? Hell, I'll make it all-inclusive, let's throw in the Portuguese, French and Italian Opens.

Oh dear 2..........PLeeeeeeeeeeeeeEAASE read post 42.

Anybody who bases their decision on where they play a round of golf on what an owner has said is thick in the head and a bed wetter.

IMO of course :D

Maybe if Troon had said it is possibly financially beneficial to the owner to hold the Scottish every year rather than the Open every 15 years it would make more sense

That would make more sense.. However, do we really think that Donald is using his Presidential Run to enhance the possibility of hosting the Scottish Open? Really.. :D
Also, do we think that the people of Scotland, who are generally a more Socialist bunch, would be happy to hand their National Open to someone who is not just bordering on Fascist, but has sailed straight past it and is currently waving it goodbye on his way towards Ultra Right Wing Militia territory

I did............ in post 42:lol:

I might just add that the 'national' Open in Scotland is The Open but that may just stir up a hornets nest. :o
