Open rota

Shame a special place has been removed from the Open rota because of an idiot.

Would be interested to know how many of the 'outraged of oxford' brigade on here (and the OOB Trump thread) are applying their principles to next year's trip?

It's called double standards and it's a great way to live your life at times.;) In addition to Trump in Aberdeen I'll also probably be playing The Blue Monster next year as well. God I feel dirty.....

The R&A will not allow an Open venue course to hold an annual EPGA event [with the exception of St Andrews/Carnoustie for the Pro Am jolly.]

Trump may be playing a blinder here and is possibly positioning Turnberry and Aberdeen as rotating Scottish Open venues.
They will bring in much more cash than a once every 14 year event but still carry the prestige.

I'd be lying if I said lining that nylon haired knob's pocket hadn't crossed my mind. Although manufactured in an American resort type way....Trump still looks spectacular. That said, the main attraction of the trip for me has always been Carnoustie and Murcar.

Shame that Turnberry has lost its spot on the rota. It's a special place.

I agree that this would be a half decent money generator, but you have to be out of your mind to even consider hosting the Scottish Open as anywhere near the prestige of The Open.. It's not even close.. Not even on the same planet... There's less distance between Trump and his original hair..

The Scottish Open is a million miles away in terms of prestige from The Open

Not even in the same solar system

The Scottish Open is on a par with all the other regular ET events

Can understand why The R&A have taken this decision. Given the close ties between The European tour and R&A, and the essential funding from the middle east ( not even thinking about how much of a welt Trump actually is) it's essential they put daylight between themselves and him.

If he continues, look to see Doral being removed by the USPGA too.Word is even they're tired of his antics.

Anyone else here some slight double standards as the R&A are more than happy to take The Open to courses that do not allow women members? Does not make Trumps antics any more palatable and I'm not saying there is a direct correlation between what he is on about and clubs not letting ladies join, as the man is clearly has a screw lose to say the least.

But perhaps the R&A should get its own house in order first when it comes to what the public perceive as discrimination in golf?

To a degree agree with this but I think the R&A are moving glacierly slowly towards recifying this.

But more significant to R&A is the Dubai Dirham. DP are a major sponsor, as are Emirates. No way are The Euro Tour gonna annoy that part of the world.

Cannot recall any official announcement from the R&A re. Turnberry so until they come out and say otherwise Turnberry must still be on the rota? Of course we must all accept that everything in the papers is true...................!!

Top description!

Am not saying people.should boycott trip at all. That would be wrong of me.

Just that there are people calling him a disgrace, giving it the large, then not exactly backing that up.

Internet hey!

Both you and Bluewolf are missing the point that the Scottish Open is looking for a permanent site.
If it is at Trumps Aberdeen or Turnberry on an annual basis that will bring a lot more income, press and prestige than an event that is held once every 15 years.

Is it looking for a perm site ? Thought it wanted to keep moving around the country instead of staying at one place

And even then it still won't bring more prestige than an Open - nowhere near , nor press and not even sure about income. The Open goes around the world.

Funny how the previous owners of Turnberry were considering dropping the Open for an annual EPGA event.
Rumoured to be the European Open. The R&A blocked it and they decided to sell instead.

BTW the EPGA events are shown around the world nowadays.
