Open 2017 - Accomodation/Camping

Looking at going next year and noticed that Under 25's can camp when they purchase a ticket - anyone know from experience if camping is available to over 25's? Unable to ring Birkdale at the moment to find out so thought I'd check here before I'm able to.

Left it a bit late so looking at Liverpool to stay and get the train in which seems the easiest option.

they did offer me camping at Troon but got digs in Glasgow in the end!

however plenty of caravan parks in southport or you maybe able to get cheap digs in Preston ( or slightly nearer)

I'm from Wigan, it's only half an hour on the train from here and King Street is a decent night haha.

It's all on one street though it is just like being in Magaluf. Everyone is on steroids and garys. No grass in my garden though so camping won't be that comfy.

Sounds like Bradford 20 years ago without the steroids.

As someone else said, I would have thought that area would have a few campsites, and there is a train stop every mile or so on that area on the same line as Birkdale.

I camp up at a place called lesiure lakes, just the other side of southport. You can camp or caravan, it even has a 9 hole academy course on it and a fishing lake. An if you like country an western, well this place is like mecca :rofl:

Only downside, although its only 15 mins away from Birkdale by car, im not sure how youd get there? im guessing traffic would be chaos

I got it wrong ignore me, I know where it is though, pretty sure there will be a bus to Southport, it's a bit in the back of beyond though out there.

Kip in Southport and get the train!

Kip in Ormskirk and get a cab

Kip anywhere long the northern line train services from Liverpool to Southport and you'll be flying mate.

Ormskirks not a bad shout, have camped at abbey farm, stones throw away from ormskirk gc. Nice quiet camp
