.................. and White!
I've just purchased new 3 & 5 Woods from AG Cheltenham. Went for a club fitting yesterday after taking suggestions I decided that I should give my local AG the chance to prove itself to me. Ok, the fitting area is not big but they appear to have a good setup and the lad that served me (Ben) was enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
I went with a list of eight clubs that I wanted to consider, all at around the £100 each mark. After discussing with Ben, this came down to five to tryout, Ping G15, Cobra S3, TM Burner SF 2.0, Wilson Fybrid, Mizuno JPX800 (although the 5 wood was not in stock, so tried a hybrid).
I hit a good number of balls with each 5 wood or hybrid and found that my swing speed was 80-85mph, so a regular shaft was advised. The Ping and the Cobra gave decent distances, but were inconsistent, I could not get to grips with the Mizuno Hybrid. So I shortlisted to two and tried the 3 woods. The Wilson was nice to hit with good distance, however the TM's were consistently the best hitters with around 10yds more length at 200 with the 5W and 210-220 with the 3W.
So, the TaylorMade Burner Superfast 2.0 woods were the weapon of choice. Trouble was they were coming in over budget and when I set a budget I stick to it. I asked but they could/would not come down to were I needed so I left it overnight.
However, after a lot of web searching last night, I found Nevada Bobs had them priced at exactly £100 each, happy days. Thank God for the AG Price Match Guarantee! Now can't wait to try them at the range later and on the course Sunday morning.
