Last 2 rounds I swear I've had a target on my back. Worst was yesterday when I was waiting on the 9th hole for the green to clear - having waited on most shots for 9 holes. 130 yards to the pin when a ball flew over my head and landed at the 100 marker. Looked back and the 2 ball behind us had teed off. Waited for numpty number 2 to hit his so I could keep my eye on it and he strayed into the trees. They were totally oblivious to me standing there never mind HID on the other side of the fairway. Where the hell did they think we'd suddenly disappeared too! Ok so they hadn't had to wait for us but we chatted on the 1st about it looking slow up front. They were very apologetic when they reached us (having taken a VERY slow walk!) but HID was livid so let rip a bit which was fair enough. We then called a truce and moved on as I know it wasn't deliberate but they needed to undestand that you have to look ahead to establish not only where the group playing in front are but also any waifs and strays from other holes who are very wayward.
The day before we played at Overstone and I was peppered twice and still not sure where either came from!
Perhaps not playing today was wise after all

yep. Not in the spirit of the game but neither is teeing off when somebody is 150yds in front of them. Truly shocking behaviour

I almost got a ball straight in the face a month ago. It was on the very same hole, only this time someone cut the corner on the dogleg without checking if anyone was on the green. It was a foot from hitting my head/face.
I once hit a drive to within 30 foot of a 4 ball. I was playing on my own and I lost the ball in the clouds.
One of them shouted some abuse at me and call me a couple of names. I walked over to them and asked who called me a name.....but they all went quiet.
I then explained that I just wanted to say that I agreed with the name caller as I should have been more careful and that I was sorry. Once they all realised I wasn't there to have a go at them, the little bloke out of the group said 'Yes it was me you moron'. (I nearly smacked him there and then).

The Grinder Of Pars (Semi Crocked)
Happened to me and CVG on our 5th a couple of years back.
It's a 200 yard par 3.
Play was slow, many 4 balls following a Ladies Match or something, anyway no-one was going anywhere. It was a case of grin and bear it or walk off.
We both had plenty of time so we went with the flow.
On this par 3, as we got to the green I turned to see the pair of Old Timers waiting on the tee. Thinking nothing of it we carried on. CVG putted and as he hit the ball, so did one of the guys on the tee - with a driver! It came hurtling through and CVG nearly boiled over on the spot.
My turn to putt and I just stood on the green waiting. I wasn't going to play until I was sure the other idiot wasn't going to try the same thing.
So we're standing there looking back at the tee from the middle of the green and sure enough the other guy tees off too. Sliced it, but it would have made the green if it had been straight.
We were gobsmacked. I can understand 1 person making a mistake but both of them - no way.
CVG started marching back up towards the tee, putter in hand, baying for blood. I managed to calm him down - just. The first guy said we should let them through as we were holding them up. We motioned to the 3 ball stood on the next tee 50 yards away and the 4 ball playing their approaches to the 6th and protested our innocence.
They were having none of it.
I said that if they put another ball through us it would be coming right back at them with interest and if they didn't like it they could stick it where the Sun doesn't shine.
At that moment one of the Greenkeepers, who are kind of like course marshalls too, turned up. James had a right old go at the 2 oldies and ordered them back to the clubhouse.
We continued!

I assume Leaney that you play at Hill Barn and you were playing the 6th which is overrun at peak times by pig ignorant muppets who think it is their right to hold up the entire course for the duration of their round or smash the ball up the back of you whilst you wait for the group in front to clear/be safely out of range. Unfortunately unless you fancy paying absurd membership and playing Worthing you're stuck without travelling to play. That and the snobbishness of Worthing GC is unbearable to all but the snobs.
Next time someone does that just stopping putting the pin back in after you clear each green until they grow a spine and try to say something. Only agree to start putting pins back in after they've apologised and admitted they're a knob.

I was one of the first to have a go last week after the way you behaved but let me just say you've gone up 1000% in my estimation after todays issues. Great self-control and shame that the course you use is full of idiots. At least next time you can go out with these guys you met and focus on the golf instead. Got to be better for your game rather than looking over yoru shoulder all the time

Taste of my own medicine? Nobody was in front of me when I played my tee shot last week, nor were they to the side of me.
I was rude by insisting I play through them but I never put anyone in danger - not once.
Thinking that someone deserves a ball hit at them them for being ignorant the week before, is a shocking way thinking.

Yes mate, that's right.....I play at Hill Barn. Not for much longer as I'm joining another club in March.
I'm looking at joining Ham Manor, do you know it? What do you think of it?
I have a few friends of mine that play at Worthing and whilst they are good, down to earth blokes, I too have heard that the members there are very snobbish. Which I could probably handle but what I can't bring myself to do is pay the ridiculous joining fee.

I need a new course desperately. It also too 5 hours to complete my round today because it was so busy.
I think they allow 6 minutes between tee times and as most people seem to play in fourballss, it can get very crowded by the 2nd tee.
The standard of golfer isn't great either, which doesn't help as that slows play even more.

I dislike people that have ignorant prejudiced views and discriminate a whole group of people as if they are all the same.
If your thread would have been titled 'Bad behaviour again' I would accept your point but why just blame people older than yourself. I guess you may still have parents, do you dislike them because they are older than you.
Driving a ball into the group in front is wrong and shows a lack of manners. Your discrimination also shows a lack of maturity, do you imply that young people never drive balls into people in front? Please take a little time to reflect on this and hopefully with a little consideration you will see that ageism does you no credit.

Sorry but I disagree here. The culprits were seniors as he described and I don't see how you can call it a generalisation. He had an issue with seniors last week which he didn't handle well but showed great patience. Clearly the guy on the buggy thought it was an issue to go back and speak to them. How would you have title the thread then "Problems with golfers.Ethnicity and sexual orientation unknown and of indertminable age bracket"

I've not said I dislike old or older people.
If last weeks antics involved youngsters and some youngsters caused an issue again this week, then I would say 'Bloody youngsters again'.
You are completely wrong to say that I am discriminating against anyone. And if anything, my title was little 'tongue in cheek' after what happened last week.
I believe that had I hit the ball at group of senior people, then they would say to to their friends that 'some youngster' almost smashed a ball at me today. It doesn't make them ageist in my view.

Homer, these people were rude golfers, to label 'old' and rude or 'young' and rude, or ' women' and rude, or any group and 'rude' then its a generalisation.
I would have said they were knobs, these come in all age groups, sexual orientations and ethnicities. Or do you suggest otherwise?
