Went there end of November was absolutely lovely , got to see the old town which is where we stayed , beautiful .

Mrs is a veggie, so probably not worth recommending food gaffes , Beer is cheap and it's hard to go wrong

Enjoy

I'm going tomorrow, (weather permitting).....
I usually go out once a month with my job.

This is a nice place to go.....

the Charles bridge is worth a walk to the other side....some amazing statues on it...there's also a riverboat restaurant on the next bridge.....I think you can see it from the Charles Bridge...can't remember what it's called but they did an amazing steak.

The Astronomic clock in the square is a popular attraction and worth seeing. look out for the guy on the turret at the very top with his trumpet every hour.

if you like meat......this is the place...... http://www.lacasaargentina.cz/

the ice bar on the top floor of the Hilton has nice views.

Apparently there are some "gentlemen's clubs", but I couldn't possibly give any personal recomendations for any of the following..... http://www.pragueexperience.com/clubs_nightlife/strip_clubs.asp

just looked at this link out of curiosity and what I read is shocking, absolutely shocking and would never be allowed in this country nor even the USA  however there are many who will be attracted to this disgusting habit..........yes that's right, they allow smoking in all the 'clubs'........allegedly :smirk:

I also contacted a colleague who lives there and she sent me these recommendations....I have left her comments in there......

My ideas are below...
For Eating/drinking
1)Malostranska Beseda
http://www.malostranska-beseda.cz/en/restaurant/about/about-restaurant.html
Malostranske nam 21, Prague 1

2)The Pub (the beer taps are installed into each and every table....so you pull a pint yourself J )
Yes, they do serve normal food here (normal portions, not snacks)
Several in town, but I recommend the one in the center
http://www.thepub.cz/praha-1/?lng=en
Veleslavínova 3, Prague 1

3) U Stare Studny (small and cozy...nice – for making an “impression” on someone )
No Eating (just small snacks)
http://www.ustarestudny.cz/
Trziste 371/3, Prague 1

4) U Chudoba (favorite of mine for Czech food)
http://www.restauracechudoba.cz/en/menu/
Vinohradská 67, Prague 2

5) Lehka Hlava (translated as ”the Clear Head”- Vegetarian restaruant)
http://www.lehkahlava.cz/en_novinky.htm
Borsov 2/280, Prague 1

6) Ambiente – Brazilian style All-U-can-Eat
VERY good and you will be stuffed....this is a treat J
http://brasileiro-slovanskydum.ambi.cz/en/#index
Slovanský dům -Na Příkopě 22, Prague 1

7) U Sedmi Svabu (translated to “At the 7 Roaches” J)
Cool medieval pub on the way down from the Castle (with food I think)
Nerudova 31, Prague 1

For Entertainment
Depends on the age I guess J
For raunchiness = K5
www.k5relax.com
Korunní 716/5, Prague 2

For young local scene
Chapeau Rouge, Jakubská 2, Prague 1
Cross Club, Plynarni 1096/23, Praha 7
Roxy, Dlouhá 33 , Prague 1

Something classier
Buddha Bar
Jakubská 649/8, Prague 1
KU Bar
Rytířská 534/13, Prague 1

Or if you have a designated driver, take a short trip to the town of, Detenice, and eat at the Medieval Tavern...an unbelievable experience with Pirate looking guys, slaves, dancing on tables, medieval madness, etc. You can also stay the night in the hotel there if you had too much.

If they want to do a day-trip and have to pick one place go to Cesky Krumlov (the best medieval town in Czech Republic)

I would advise to walk a block or two of the tourist track where you'll find equally as good beer/food at lower prices. You'll get funny looks from the locals but happens everywhere.

Also make sure you keep your wallet on your person and any bag over your shoulder to prevent pick pockets, especially around the Wenceslas Sq-Charles Bridge areas

Can vouch for the clear head veggie restaurant , seriously good eating if your a veggie or not and not the usual bean feast nonsense

Can anyone recommend a decent but not too expensive central hotel!

Where we stayed was outstanding , right bang next to Charles bridge , it was my gals birthday and when we returned that night they had placed a chilled bottle of cava in our room for her

Pod Vesi it's called , best to book straight from the website , google it you should find it no problem

Just make sure you head here..........

Cracking ale at good prices (about £1.25 a jar) and the food is good Czech fayre too and it is also just round the corner from the main square where you will get shafted for both food and ale prices.

Head to Petrin Hill for a view to die for.

Been there many times and love the place. It also has a race course that I have frequented that is a great way to spend an afternoon at stupidly cheap prices.

My wife is a veggie, so any suggestions for somewhere nice would be brilliant!

Went just after the wall came down, now that was a cheap place then, cracking atmosphere. Stood next to Nick Cave at the RC Bunkr night club, happy days. Search it out of it's still open, it was a punk/alternative club in those days. Went back on business a couple of years ago and it seemed a bit too full of stig nits in football shirts now.

If you are looking for somewhere similar but less 'brits on the **** football shirty' then I'd recommend Poland. Doesn't overly matter where as most of the towns are the same, lovely big market squares with lots of bars and cheap booze. Where ever you can get a cheap flight to. Tallin in Estonia is nice as well but I hear that's a bit over run with stig nits as well.
