If I ever NR I would love to walk in and tbh as long as there is someone else playing to mark cards wish that people I play with did the same.
The game can really get you down at times no matter how good your mental side is and the last place you should be is out on the course. If you can do NR and go to the Bar, Practise ground, Brothel or other escape and come back with a different outlook next time. We are not professional golfers we are supposed to do this for our enjoyment so why should we tortutre ourselves when it gets that bad.
Don't get me wrong I have never abandoned a competitive round just because its one of those days but I really think there should be less stigma attached to it.
I'd even be happy to walk round and mark someones card but even that would be frowned upon. The last thing you should do when in that frame of mind is keep on out there, you'll save yourself high blood pressure, golf balls, golf clubs and maybe even your wallet and phone if you play on a course with water.
So long as you don't mess up someone elses day then leave the course and your sanity intact.
